Cormac smiled a little and hobbled after her, trying to stay as quiet as possible. He didn’t want to distrust her out of telling him; if that was even a thing. Which he doubted it was, he… could never be too careful.

They walked down a short hallway before making their way up a flight of stairs. Turning right, they walked down a longer hallway, this one filled with paintings of men and women and children who had all lived in the palace.
After passing many of he portraits, they stopping in front of the picture of a young woman. She seemed to be about seventeen in the painting, and her eyes were bright, as if she enjoyed what she was doing. It was rather simple, as opposed to the ones that had men sitting atop horses or women lounging across chaises.
The writing beneath it read, Juliet Ashlynn Miller on her eighteenth birthday.
Cormac gazed around at the dark hallway, at the smiling faces, the smug ones, and the blatantly happy ones. He almost ran into Juliet but barely stopped himself. His eyes fell upon the painting and he exhaled softly.
“O-oh… you look… happy,” He murmured, at risk of offending her. He didn’t seem to realize this until after he said it.
Juliet nodded slowly, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she gazed at the portrait.
“I was. It was an exciting day for me. Until it wasn’t, that is…” she trailed off, suddenly looking thoughtful.
Cormac glanced at her and set a gentle hand in her arm. “I’m truly sorry. It must… be a different lifestyle. Perhaps not the most terrible thing… but a change.”
Juliet flinched at his touch. When was the last time someone had actually touched her? Heck, when was the last time anyone outside of her staff had even looked at her without trembling in fear?
“It is… It’s been hard to adjust to,” she admitted in a soft murmur. “This is nothing like the life I led before…”
Cormac felt her flinch and immediately took his hand off, murmuring an apology. He smiled gently up at her, resisting the urge to just give her a hug. Which she absolutely needed.
“I can imagine, my lady.”
Juliet looked at the picture for a moment longer before shaking her head as if clearing it. She turned back to Cormac and nodded at him, indicating that they should leave.
“Anyway, I’m sure you must be hungry. You can sit in the parlor, and I’ll have food brought to you,” she said.
Cormac stepped out of her way with a nod. “Alright. I think I can go down by myself if you don’t want to bother with me anymore.” He didn’t want to get too attached to Juliet, in case she turned on him. And… he didn’t want her as an enemy.
“Oh, I should show you where it is, first,” Juliet said, glancing over at him. “I don’t mind…”
Cormac smiled faintly, nodding a little. “Alright, then. Please show me where it is.”
Juliet nodded once before heading down the hall. “It’s just this way,” she said quietly.
What was she doing? She was showing someone around her home? When had she last done that?
Cormac nodded and carefully tread after her, careful not to make any noise. He wasn’t sure why he was being so cautious. Perhaps it was for the same reason? He didn’t want to annoy Juliet? Gods… I’m being very unfair.
“Here we are. You may sit wherever you like,” Juliet said as they entered a small room. A fireplace was lit against the opposite wall, and chairs were spread around it in a circle.
Cormac smiled a little at the relaxed decor and nodded a little. “Thank you.” He bowed to her before going and taking a seat farthest from the fire.
“I will go get you some food. Is there anything you would like?” Juliet asked from her place near the door.
(Okay, so for some reason, I just smelled quesadilla, and I really like the smell of them — when I make them at work, anyway — but there was no reason for me to smell it… Wtheck…)
Cormac nearly foldee his hands together. “Nope, not really. Thank you, my lady.”
(That’s weird…)
“All right… I will be back in a few minutes, then,” Juliet said before leaving the room. She glanced around before making her way to the kitchen, where her beloved staff were awaiting her.
Cormac glanced over at the fore, swallowing heavily. He disn’t really like re. The way the embers nipped at his nose when he came so close to it still haunted him. He looked away, but somehow his eyes landed back on it.
(ahhhhh)
(sigh)
Juliet nodded at Cogsworth, Lumiere, and Mr. Potts as they greeted her. After a few questions like, "Who is he?" "Where did he come from?" and "What is he doing here?" she finally got to ask for something to eat for him. They quickly agreed to make something and hurried to start on it.
(^-^)
(Hmmmm Skip to spice things up?)
(Sure. To when?)
(Hmmm Maybe when she starts to seclude herself from him and the savants introduce themselves?)
(Sure! Sorry if my replies are a little crappy, though. My brain is fried right now. Lol.
Would you mind starting?)
