“Something?” Cormac couldn’t help asking. “Alright… Why the kitchen? Don’t you have an infirmary or something?”
“Something?” Cormac couldn’t help asking. “Alright… Why the kitchen? Don’t you have an infirmary or something?”
“No, I do not. At least, not at the moment,” Juliet muttered under her breath. There’s no one to run it anymore…
“Oh.” Cormac coughed a couple times. “We-well, who covers the health-keeping , then?”
“There is not much that needs to be done. I do what needs to be done, if it ever comes up,” Juliet said, somewhat stiffly.
Cormac chewed on his tongue at her tone, dipping his head and limping in as much silence as he could muster. He didn’t want to anger his savior p. There was a chance she would throw him out again…
Juliet stared straight ahead, feeling her throat growing thick as she held back her tears. She should be used to this by now, but it still hurt to think that she had once had a normal life, that she had once been more than just the beast living in the castle on the hill. It was still hard, sometimes, and she tried not to think about it.
Cormac started to wheeze louder despite his attempts of trying to stay quiet. He chewed on his lip and looked down at the ground. A soldier of should never show his injury, Rung his father’s voice. He nodded and inhaled sharply, despite the rattling pain in his chest.
They finally arrived at the palace doors, and Juliet looked up at them before turning to the knight. “I will be right back to let you in,” she said before disappearing inside.
Cormac glanced up, and was only able to blurt out an, “Okay” before she left. He leaned against the stone pillar of the bridge, coughing into his hands. His coughs were heavy and breathless.
Juliet walked inside before closing the door behind her. She quickly found her staff, let hem know hey were having a guest and that they were not to interact with him, before she walked back and opened the door again.
“You may come inside now,” she said, glancing at the man worriedly.
Cormac leaned slowly off of the pillar and dragged himself over, nodding. “Lead… the way… m’lady,” He managed to get out.
“Are you sure that I can’t carry you? I don’t want you to collapse on the way,” Juliet offered again as she closed the door behind him.
Cogsworth, Lumiere, And Mr. Potts peeked our from behind another doorway, opposite to the one the pair would pass through. They glanced at each other curiously as they saw the man step inside behind their mistress. Who was this knight? And what had happened that even Juliet looked worried about him?
Cormac nodded slowly and straightened up despite his stabbing pains. “I’m sure, my lady. The kitchen is wonky this way, right?” He pointed in a random direction, hoping he didn’t have to drag himself up steps.
Juliet shook her head and pointed a different way. "To our right. You can follow me," she stated, already moving in that direction.
Cormac nodded and dragged himself after her, trying to keep a hold on his breath. It’s okay… it’s okay..
When they reached the kitchen, Juliet pulled a chair out and gestured for the knight to sit in it. She gathered a few supplies from the cupboards before making her way back to him.
“You may need to remove your armor so that I can make sure you are not hurt elsewhere,” she said, glancing over him as she double checked for injuries that she would be able to see.
Cormac say heavily, breath8ng a deep sigh of relief as his weight forgot eased off of his injury. He nodded and took off the heavy metal breastplate, slipped off the metal boot-like pieces and sat them down. He caught his breath once the pieces were removed, leaning back in the chair with his breath rasping in his throat.
“It doesn’t look like there’s anything more than your hand and face,” Juliet murmured after inspecting him some. She moved to a table and grabbed a wet, gray cloth, then walked back over to the knight. “What is your name, Knight?”
Cormac sniffled up some snot and wiped at it idly. “My name is Cormac. Thank you for asking. What is your name, my lady?” He looked up, tilting his head.
“Juliet,” the beastess answered plainly. She held the cloth up and nodded toward it. “I am just going to wipe the blood from your face and hand, now.”
Cormac rose his chin a little and nodded, setting his hand on his leg. “Okay. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.”
“It’s all right. Don’t worry. I wasn’t doing much today, anyway,” Juliet murmured as she leaned closer and started to wipe gently at his wounds.
Cormac shut his eyes a little as she wiped off his face, curling his hands up carefully on his lap.
“Where will I go after this, my lady?”
Juliet shrugged, then realized he couldn’t see her with his eyes closed. “I do not know. You may stay here until your wounds are healed, or you may try to find your way back home. That is up to you.”
Cormac sighed softly and flitted open his eyes when the rag scraped across a wound. “I think it’s pointless to try and get myself back home. After all, those wolves might attacking again and I don’t have my horse.”
