"So what brings you here? Hunger? Sex?" Kariin cleared her throat and poured herself a glass of water. "Both?"
Vicente shook his head. "I just… wanted to see how you were doing. Did that hangover ever pass?" He sat down on the edge of pink bed, fidgeting with his fingers.
"Does it look like it passed?" She poured another glass of water and handed it to Vicente. "My hangovers were never this bad, though…" He nodded and took a sip of his water, even though he knew it wouldn't actually hydrate him or anything.
Kariin meant absolutely nothing to him, but why did he feel so guilty all of a sudden? His hand held onto the hilt of the blade as he watched the girl in front of him.
"that reminds me. isaac, are you feeling okay?"
isaac looked up, making direct eye contact with zen. "garden, i don't feel any worse than usual. you only call me isaac when you're upset." he didn't ask a question, just left the statement hanging in the air.
zen shifted uncomfortably.
"i'm worried whatever colgate did might have lasting effects. who knows if he fixed you properly after he… drank?"
isaac gave zen a hard look.
"i'll tell you if anything is wrong. kill me if i turn into a vampire or whatever. i don't want to be immortal."
and he looked back to his painting, leaving zen to work through the bewilderment at isaac's strange calm towards the entire situation.
Kariin tilted her head to the side, narrowing her eyes on the waistband of his pants. "What's that?"
Vicente clenched his teeth. It's now or never. He dropped the glass of water and pulled out the blade, aiming it at her throat. "I'm so sor–"
An ear-splitting scream escaped her lips.
both boys jumped as a blood-curdling scream echoed through the building, but isaac quickly composed himself and looked with a deadpan expression at their door.
zen clutched the blankets, looking the opposite to isaac.
"the FUCK was that? did drunk guy get let in and then beat the hell out of his girlfriend?"
isaac shrugged.
"maybe."
He brought his finger to her lips. "Shut. Up. You're really not making this any–"
She grabbed one of her textbooks and hit his head, which didn't do much. "Let me go! Please," she clawed, kicked and tugged on his hair, yet despite that, Vicente couldn't bring himself to kill her.
Why am I stalling?
zen leapt out of bed, throwing open their door.
"come with me, i'm not leaving you alone in here while that's happening. maybe your sharp tongue will come in handy."
isaac sighed, finishing the section of painting he was doing and slowly getting up. he grabbed his sunglasses, putting them on quickly before venturing out into the hallway.
zen jogged over to the dorm the sounds were coming from, and beat heavily on the door with a loud "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON IN THERE?"
"Scream and I swear to go i'll–"
"HELP! Please don't leave me in here! Call the campus guard or something!"
"isaac, call the campus guard. i don't have my phone."
"okay."
he pulled out his phone, dialing the number and waiting until they picked up to silently hand the phone to zen. zen accepted it and began to talk.
"we have an emergency in room 281, we're standing outside the door and there seems to be a man inside kariin's room. she's screaming for help, and he's threatening her. we don't know how long she will be safe. please hurry."
he waited and heard their response, and hung up when they confirmed they were coming in 3 minutes.
"they're on their way, kariin! it's me, zen. isaac is here too. please keep calm. whoever else is in there, hurt her and you'll have both the campus guard and i to answer to!"
Fucking hell.
Anger flooded him and he threw Kariin aside. Vicente opened the door, pulling the two inside by their hair before slamming the door behind him. "Idiots."
isaac immediately went into fight or flight, flinching violently as vicente reached for him. in result, vicente only got the end of his hair.
both of the boys stumbled in, isaac yanking away and zen lunging for vicente's throat.
He grabbed him by the arm, slamming him against the wall and aimed the blade at him. Vicente bared his bright fangs, a low growl emitting from his throat.
zen stood, stunned for a moment, but brought his knee up into vicente's crotch, hard. he hoped the fucker still had functional nerve endings.
isaac realized he should probably check on kariin, so he shook himself off, and calmly walked over to where her body lay and knelt next to her.
"kariin, are you okay? where are you hurt?"
Kariin groaned in response, clutching her stomach.
Vicente clenched his teeth, a hand on his groin as he winced in pain. "Fine," he snapped and kicked off the doorknob. "If you plan on being dinner tonight, be my guest."
"your dumb ass already drank today, fuck off. what's your goddamn problem?" zen spat, immediately moving to stand in front of isaac and kariin.
isaac put a hand on her shoulder. "campus guard will be here soon."
"Not me," he jerked his chin toward Kariin. "Her." Vicente carefully sat down on the bed, his hand still on his groin. "Boy would this be a mess to clean up."
Kariin's back arched as she groaned in pain, beads of sweat forming on her temples as she let out heavy breaths.
zen took a moment to comprehend, but the second he got it he hauled isaac up by the collar. he marched over to vicente, isaac in tow. (who had made several noises of complaint and wrenched himself free to hit zen on the shoulder.)
"you're fucking telling me that you're useless at keeping people from turning and i'm going to have to kill isaac? you could have fucking told us, asshole!" zen looked furious, crossing his arms to keep from punching vicente in the throat.
isaac shrugged.
"a chance for me to die is always welcome. you know that, garden."
zen turned on him.
"listen, isaac. if you ever stopped to think that maybe suicide or dying isn't the fucking answer to all of your problems, we wouldn't be in this shit. so don't 'garden' me, bitch."
isaac silently gave him a cold expression.
Vicente shrugged, though he did feel a twinge of guilt. "I thought I had gotten rid of all the venom. Turns out I was wrong." He turned to Bell and crossed his arms. "Sorry?"
He peered past them and took a glimpse at Kariin as she began letting out animalistic noises from her mouth.
"It was nice meeting you two."
"fuck you, vicente. wasn't nice meeting you in the slightest. you can stay here and die if you fucking want to, isaac."
zen walked over to the door, pushing the outside half of the broken doorknob out and pressing on the mechanism to open it, walking out and slamming the door behind him.
only seconds later, a loud knock and a shout of "campus guard, open the door!" rang through the room.
Vicente rolled his eyes and lied on his back. "Still wanna be dinner? You should've left with him while you still had the chance."
"yeah, if i gave a shit. i honestly could turn my life around and go to therapy or whatever, but honestly i don't have plans for my future. i might get on buzzfeed unsolved this way, so why not? move over."
he perched on the edge of the bed, watching as kariin writhed on the floor.
He shifted a bit to the left to give him more room. "And why is that? You're a model, why not push that into something more, hm? What about that friend of yours? Surely you wouldn't want to leave him all alone."
"i wouldn't want to leave him, but he doesn't need me."
he looked at vicente, expression cold and monotone.
"i'm a model because i'm physically pretty. physically pretty doesn't mean shit when you're crumbling emotionally and mentally. i'm living a stereotype. 'gay son of rich parents who don't love each other'. might as well just complete the stereotype, but with a little more flair."
isaac glanced back at kariin, watching her turn.
"i should have my throat ripped out pretty soon, if i'm guessing correctly. if you're squeamish you shouldn't look."
"No," he shook his head and stood upright, walking over to Kariin and picking her up by her hair. He pulled the door open and threw her to the security guards, their screams and Kariin's snarls echoing throughout the room when he slammed the door.
"aw, shit, dude. you had a chance to satiate her without there being a mass murder. why wouldn't you take that chance?" he shifted, pulling a knee up to his chest and resting his head on it.
"Better than to have you be her first meal. Besides," he shrugged and sat next to him, "why not?"
