Azrael didn't like thinking about her time as an angel. That time of innocence and a carefree nature seemed so unbelievably distant from now that sometimes she wasn't entirely sure it had been real at all. Perhaps that had been her own hell, being given the chance to be an angel only for the dream to be shattered by her friend's death. Maybe it was always meant to be. Buy then there were the reminders that gave her hope it wasn't a dream. Her wings, flashes of memories of ivory buildings and smiling faces. Her name being called. "Now that is something I haven't heard in ages." She murmured, slowly turning to face whomever had spoken her angelic name. No, not whoever, no demon nor human knew her by Azrael. They all called her Rae. Only an angel would be so formal. She scanned the sea of people milling about the sidewalk until her eyes landed on a familiar face. Then her heart sunk. The world seemed to both spin too fast and stay in place. It was ineed an angel. Not the dead one she had lost years ago but another friend she had remained close with. Except the last time Rae had seen them, she didn't remember them being an angel. She clenched her jaw, her hands drawing into fists at her side as she took in her friend and her enemy. "Adeline." She barely whispered, wanting to both go towards her and run as far away from. This is her Adeline in every way and yet she was a stranger. "I didn't know Heaven had stooped so low as to take in demons. Are they so desperate?"
Adeline stared at Azrael, knowing that their conversation wouldn't be heard by the mortals. They tended to ignore, or tune out anything that wasn't "normal." And two celestial…no, Azrael was no longer a celestial being. That was obvious as day. But that didn't matter to her. All that mattered to her was that she had finally finally found her best friend. "Azrael," she whispered. But she knew the ang–no the demon would hear her. "It's been quite a while since we last met, hasn't it, my dear?" She tilted her head to the side, moving forward just a bit, so that they weren't so far away. "Where have you been hiding all this time?" And Adeline pauses, her eyes glancing toward Rae's new features. She used to be lankier, and Adeline remembers how she'd tease them about it. Now, the demon sported some muscles. A bit surprising, if she was being honest. And the outfit Rae was wearing was darker, nowhere near the bright pastel colors they used to wear. Now, the wings were what had caught her attention the most. The wings, if she remembered correctly, used to be a nice shade of pale grey, but now, they were tinged black and were scattered with scars. She glanced toward her own scarred wings with a frown, which now sported a dark gray color. Admittedly, she missed her black wings, but she wouldn't voice that thought out loud. She turned back to Azrael, apparently deciding to answer the question she had been asked. "They must be if they decided that I'd be of some sort of service to them," she said, with a derisive laugh. "I could say the same for you. It seems Hell has no problem recruiting Angels." There was a pause, and she smiles unkindly. "Or should I say, former angels?" There's another pause, and any sort of malice seems to disappear from her face. "What happened to you? You're so…so…different."
Azrael's eyes fluttered for a moment the second time Adeline said her name. She swayed a bit before refocusing consciously tugged her coat around her wings. How badly in that moment she wanted to go back to a simpler time. Where she could be careless and free, secretly befriending and growing close to a demon yet still feeling like she was doing all she could to be a good angel. But that had been before everything went to hell. Her friend had died and she had plunged into the worst depression she had ever felt, so far deep that she had descended to hell. Of course there were other things that counted towards her decision to descend but her friend's death had been the main reason. Now standing in front of Adeline, she so desperately wanted to revert back into that small angel and run to her beloved Adeline where she could guarentee safety. She faltered a bit when Adeline called her 'my dear' having missed the teasing nicknames they used to call each other but she managed to keep her features neutral as she ventured closer to Adeline, not directly in front of her bit close enough so they could talk normally.
She crossed her arms around her chest and, despite herself and the situation, gave a tight lipped smile. "A lot, if I'm being honest." She atched an eyebrow and gave Adeline an intentional once over. "And you? I never would have my Adeline would rise to the ranks of an angel, an archangel no less."
(whoops i kinda forgot about this, haha. I'll put up a response today…or on Monday.)
(honestly same😅 it's all good take your time)
(AHHHHHH I'M SORRY I'M SORRY! I FORGOT ABOUT IT AGAIN AHHH I've been having a bit of a writer's block (iḿ also trying to focus on school stuff cause school year is almost over) so i haven't responded to most of my rp's bc of this ;-; though I'm trying to write a response to this cause i don't wanna just ghost this haha)
(so hopefully i should have something up before the end of this month (I'm hoping? maybe by the first couple of days of june cause finals and all) but i totally understand if you don't want to wait that long and decide that your time is better spent somewhere else)
(no worries at all! I don't mind the wait. Good luck on your finals, don't worry about this for now.)
( i took a mental break during the summer; in hindsight, I should have mentioned that before I disappeared for almost 3 months but nonetheless, I am back!)
Adeline raised her eyebrow in slight confusion. "How did you-" she paused, her eyebrows furrowing, and then shook her head. Right, her disappearance from Hell, and her sudden appearance in Heaven of all places years after had caused alarm on both sides. She distinctly remembered the hushed whispers from some of the angels as she walked through the halls of Heaven. Now, she supposed it would be stupid of her to think that the rumors and theories hadn't gotten to Down Below. "I assure you, it was a, uh, much of a surprise to me as to everybody else," she replies with a shrug. Adeline would have been much happier if she had just been left alone as a lowly rank angel, but someone clearly had other ideas. "It's, not as great as everyone thinks it is. Being an archangel, that is."
(Just stalking thinking should my fallen angel character join in)
(er, yeah, sorry, but this isn't open to the public (should have added the closed part, that's my fault) you're free to stalk if you wish!)
(nah I busy with my RPs my mafia one and Relms of Demons and angel where humans own them)
(glad you're back! And no worries at all, hope you're doing well!)
Azrael chuckled softly and ripped her head at Adeline just so she could see the slight shimmer if glamour hiding what she could only imagine to be those glorious archangel wings. "I know an angel when I see one." She said simply. News, especially in hell, specifically when it came from heaven, traveled fast. So it shouldn't have been a surprise when Azrael received news if Adelines ascent. Looking back on it wasn't as surprising to find out heaven had accepted a demon into their ranks though archangel seemed like a step to far for even them. But no, it had surprising to find out that her Adeline had been the one to ascend. "I had been looking for you for months when I first came here. Everytime I asked someone about you they looked at me like I was crazy. I had though maybe it was svecause I was still new. Imagine my surprise when I finally heard you became an angel." There was some pride in her voice, even if it had crushed her to find out that the one person she could trust wouldn't be by her side. "I always knew you were more than just a demon. Heaven must be eating their words and more." She glanced up with a smirk before focusing on Adeline, her smile faltering slightly. "No," she agreed softly "it's never what a young angel imagines. It's always much harder." She murmured, shaking herself from her thoughts "so what brings you around here?" She asked, waving around to the area, trying her best to ignore the obvious. Adeline was a an angel, but then that made Azrael an enemy. She didn't like that idea. Being her friend's enemy, it seemed so wrong.
(not entirely sure if this is alive but in case it is, smol boop)
