Zack got himself all comfortable all over again, relaxing on the thick blankets he brought up from his apartment. He grabbed a package of cookies and started to crunch on those, only to hear footsteps. He pushed it off and enjoyed the stars until he heard the Human's voice. He growled faintly, curling his wings up protectively, his lips twitching but the Demon didn't say much. He just curled his legs and kept his gaze to the sky. It wasn't his fault the stupid Human stumbled across him again. And if he tried shit, he'd be flung off the five-story high building as fast as a blink.

Axtin thought about climbing back down, but his body ached and wanted to rest. There was also the fact that he'd have to find some other fire escape that was within reach which would take quite a while. The man ran a hand over his face, frustrated that he wasn't alone. The Demon was one of those "hot but still an asshole" types. He stared at the other form for a moment, watching him turn away. If he didn't talk, that would make the time on the roof less awful.
Zack inhaled sharply and focused on the stars again, pointing his chin up at the sky. The stars were only small dots in the sky thanks to the lights of Jersey, which was really a disappointment. The Demon tried to focus just on this and his cookies, but the Human he had just helped was still staring at him. He had settled so his back was on the other, which was clearly a mistake. He could feel the Human's eyes bearing into his smooth, strong back, and it didn't help Zack in his ruined mood.
Axtin took his eyes off of the Demon, noticing the food he had. Normally, he might have been tempted to steal one, but there were reasons as to why he turned away: the other man was a literal Demon from Hell who wouldn't hesitate to kill him, and the cookies were probably bad if he liked them anyways. Axtin rolled onto his back to stare at the blurry stars, not knowing what else to do.
A type of frosty, angry silence fell between them, the most coming from the unfriendly Demon quietly crunching on his cookies. They were actually a small corner-store brand of velvet cookies, and they were absolutely delicious. Zack wasn't about to go fuck off and get nasty stuff to put in his body. Despite allowing himself to Contract with asshole Humans who might just want to use him, he had some decency and standards.

Axtin wasn't the type to keep the silence. He always had to open his big mouth and say something he may or may not regret. He pretended to cough, saying the word "asshat" through the forced cough. Being quick with your tongue wasn't always a blessing. Then again, after everything he had done, he'd probably never know what a blessing was. At least not some sort of "holy-from-Heaven" blessing.
Zack’s gaze flitted to the other, and he growled deeply when his sharp ears picked up on the whispered word. His grey eyes were slitted into angry chips, his nose moving slightly. It almost looked like a dog’s when he sniffed the air for food, but this time it seemed to be a sign of aggression, or perhaps searching the other for hostility.
“Why are you up here? You never come up here. This is my spot.”
Reason would have had him say, 'Climbed the first ladder I saw. I'm tired and not about to pass out in an alley.'
But this was Axtin. The last name Paine was fitting for a reason.
"Listen dick head. I didn't come up here because I wanted some 'quality time' with you," he hissed. It was obvious that he was quite beaten. There was a bit of dried blood on his limbs and clothes and likely several bruises. "I climbed the first fire escape I could and now I wish I could climb back down," the man complained.
