“It’s..” Damien trailed off, trying to find the right words. “You’re okay. And that’s what matters, Ro.” It all terrified Damien. Hell, he was still scared, just seeing Rowan like this.
“It’s..” Damien trailed off, trying to find the right words. “You’re okay. And that’s what matters, Ro.” It all terrified Damien. Hell, he was still scared, just seeing Rowan like this.
Rowan nodded weakly and closed his eyes. "I… I-I'm scared, Damien… I didn't mean… d-didn't mean to do it…"
He sighed, wrapping his arms around Rowan the best he could without harming him further. “I know, Ro. Hey, you should just sleep for now, okay? I know you’re tired.”
"Mmkay…" Rowan melted into Damien's touch and sighed shakily. It didn't take him long to pass out in Damien's arms.
Damien panicked slightly when he realized that Rowan had fallen asleep so quickly, but he soon remembered that he’d actually asked him to. He, on the other hand, couldn’t fall asleep no matter whether or not he wanted to.
Rowan seemed like he was going to be asleep for a good long while. His energy was completely drained and he just didn't want to be awake.
Damien pulled his phone back out to pass the time. He was wide awake and still just a little bit hopped up on adrenaline.
(Time skip?)
(Yep! Do you want to handle it, or should I?)
(I can)
Later, while Rowan was still asleep, a doctor called Damien out into the hall. "We're considering having Rowan admitted into a mental hospital. Not an asylum, of course, but a place he can be monitored."
Damien slid his hands into his pockets. “Uh- I mean, that sucks ass, but I get it. I can’t like.. say anything, though, ‘cause we’re not related in any way.” He pressed his lips together. “I’m just a friend here.”
The doctor nodded. "Are his parents or guardians able to give their consent? If not, we will likely have no choice but to admit him."
“I’ll be honest, don’t fuckin’ know. Are they like.. alive? I think so. But I haven’t seen them in a solid two years.” Damien frowned. “Can’t you call them or something?”
"We've tried. They won't answer their cell phones or the home phone. We haven't heard from them in a few years either." The doctor sighed.
“Jesus fucking christ. Are they dead or something?” Damien groaned. He really couldn't process this at the moment, to put it nicely. On one hand, he knew that Rowan should be admitted for his own safety, yes, but a little part of his mind wanted to scream and cry again because no, he’s been almost taken away from me way too many times in the past week!
"We have no idea. Has Rowan seen them anytime recently?" The doctor asked. "Or is he home alone all the time?"
“Alone. Kid’s got crippling anxiety because of it. I- uh- y’know, I don’t really know why this happened. But I think it’s part of it.” Damien sighed.
The doctor nodded. "Does he have any other family that we could contact? Aunt, Uncle, grandparents?"
“I.. I think he has a sister? Older sister?” Damien didn’t sound too sure. “I dunno.”
"Would she be able to keep an eye on him or is she too busy?"
“I dunno. I never talk to her.” Damien stated flatly, as if that was a given. “Maybe she can.”
"From what I can tell, it would probably be best for him to be admitted… at least for a little while. You can still visit him while he's there."
Damien sucked in a breath. “Yeah. Alright. I- uh, should you tell him? I think he’d like to know.”
The doctor nodded and went into the room, where Rowan was just beginning to wake up. "Damien…?" He called out weakly.
Damien stood in the hallway. He couldn’t be in there at that moment, there was just too much to process and he could barely think straight as is.
