I will start.
From the very beginning, I knew I was not like my peers. I could see, what others could not. Fully, at least. The shadow in the corner of your eye? I could see who it belonged to. Perhaps it was a demon, maybe a ghost. But they were all not from our world - either visiting, exploring, or perhaps stuck. Sometimes I could see these spirits. Attached to someone. Possessed, or maybe just catching a ride. I never knew the full extent of my abilities, since others were not like me. I never really told anybody.
I leaned up against the wall, watching every person go by.
Daevi was not interested in staying near the crowd for too long. But Daevi was just a wisp, right now. A wisp among spirits was considered somewhat young and weak - most of the time. But due to that, Daevi had to rely on hitching a ride off of humans. They didn't notice. They never did.
Daevi's form was featureless, as a wisp. It wasn't anything special, right now. Daevi needed power. It had just enough power to direct a weaker, younger human to the location of where it needed to go. Daevi carefully leapt from one human to a shorter one, unaware of who might be watching. But why would it need to? Demons were the only worries it had, after all.
(apologies for shifting perspectives but I feel this would play out weird lol)
Alizar noted the glow that caught his eye right way. A wisp, he noted. He'd rarely see these playful creatures within town. Typically, they stuck to darker, less-crowded places. Without attempting to be creepy (although his clothing he wore definitely would set off some alarms of people, judging by the helmet he wore.) he trailed behind the host and the wisp. Person, he corrected. It was always tricky to avoid using such terms.
Daevi was not aware of a pursuer until it had glanced back, yellow orbs glowing despite it being quite bright outside right now. If only for a moment, it quickly turned back. Those eyes were of no normal human! Most humans saw through spirits, but this one was staring, as if looking at a wall. It had seen Daevi!
Still, Daevi kept onto the human, using bits of energy to direct it towards a power source of some sorts. A light would do. Maybe this human would stop following.
Alizar watched as the Wisp quickly turned around. So it was aware. He saw bits and pieces of energy vanishing into the thin air. What was it doing? Controlling the h- er, person? He slowed pace a bit, but continued to trail after them.
It is still following Daevi! Daevi took a sharp turn into the alleyway. It continued down it, before crossing into a near-empty street, and then; a burst of energy, and Daevi launched itself into a streetlamp. The host looked surprised, looking around, before walking off; probably to find its way back.
Possession, one might refer to what Daevi was doing to the lamp. But those are the incorrect terms. Absorbing energy, was a somewhat preferable word.
Alizar stepped back as the wisp jumped into the lamp. He watched the host wander off, before approaching the lamp himself. He placed a hand on the lamp, feeling some of the energy drain away steadily. The wisp was taking away energy? But what would it.. Oh dear. Spirits needed, in order to grow stronger and stay in the physical world, energy. They could achieve this by killing people or animals; killing other spirits; or absorbing energy from electricity. He couldn't do much besides wait for the spirit to come out.
He didn't have to wait long, because not twenty seconds later, Daevi jumped out, glowing brighter than ever. The lamp had not provided enough energy for Daevi to shed its wisp form, but at least Daevi could move freely now! That was, until Daevi spotted the human. Ah!
Alizar wasted no time and grabbing out at the wisp. Besides being able to see the spirits, he could interact with them physically. Enough to hold it back and..interrogate it? Maybe. He was bored, and didn't have much time until he had to be called back again.
Daevi shrieked - at least, as much of a shriek a spirit could make. Let Daevi go! Stop! How can you hold me like this!
Alizar winced at the spirit. "What is your name?" Oh wait, the Spirit just told him that. Daevi. "Daevi?"
The wisp continued to struggle, ignoring his words.
Alizar was confused. Why isn't this Daevi responding?
Daevi paused. How can Daevi hear you? Human? How?
Alizar tilted his head. It seems Daevi can hear me suddenly? By the thoughts in my head? He paused for a second. Hello, Daevi. My name is Alizar. What are you doing so close to humans?
Daevi thought for a moment. Then, answered back, rather mockingly. I don't know, what are YOU doing so close to humans? This is none of your business!
Because.. I am one? Alizar returned.
But you're not! No human can do this! Now let me free!
Alizar stopped, and looked up. He was a human, though. Just with special..abilities. Traits. I am a human, though. I was just born with the ability to interact with your kind, that is all.
Well, you should not have had that ability at all! Mind your own business! Daevi started to try and get free again.
Dear god.. Some spirits are pretty big jerks.. Alizar squinted, then he sighed. Sorry, but I can't exactly let you roam around here. He tightened his grip on the spirit, pulling it closer to himself.
Hey! I heard that you know! The spirit took a moment then reacted. Stop! What are you doing? Let me go!
Alizar brought out a silver ring. It was somewhat small. While Alizar did not know the full extent of his abilities, he was aware of being able to charm certain spirits into certain objects. And this was a wisp, so it would be.. easy enough. He closed his eyes and brought the wisp closer to the ring, quietly responding (or as quiet as he could get in his mind) You have a different idea of free. I can't let you cause terror to humans, you know.
Daevi felt the pull of the ring to themselves. What is this? Stop! You can't! However, charming the spirit into the ring was a pretty easy task, despite Daevi protesting to not be charmed into the ring.
