I smirked at her reaction. Perfect. I was getting under her skin, all right. That red on her cheeks… I was enjoying this way too much.
“Well, which book did you get?” I questioned, taking a seat close to her that I was practically breathing down on her neck.
I squirmed as his breath fanned across my neck, shifting sideways a few paces so his presence wasn’t as intoxicating… or at least, that’s what I told myself. “[insert book name??]”
I pretended not to notice how she shifted away from me. I loved the effect I had on her, I have to say. It gave me a thrill.
“Ah, Frozen Moon,” I murmured. “That’s a good pick, Elle.”

I pressed the book into his hands, too flustered to respond verbally. God, the effect he had on me…

I smirked before opening the book, resting one leg on top of the other before I cleared my throat and began to read.
“Leaves crackled and crunched beneath the thick soles of my hiking boots. A chilling breeze stirred the brittle branches on each towering tree. Rodents skittered through the underbrush, the occasional insect buzzed past my ear. Besides that, the forest was silent…”

I glued my eyes to my lap as Colton read, not trusting myself enough to look up at or touch him.

Finally, feeling my throat dry up, I stopped reading. Then a mischievous idea came to me.
“My mouth’s dry,” I cocked my head to the side. “But I don’t know if it’s water I’m thirsty for, or if it’s something entirely different." When I said that, I made sure to look at her lips and trail my tongue over mine
I cleared my throat awkwardly, rubbing sheepishly at my crimson cheeks. “I——What would you do if I left again, to tease you?” I desperately needed the upper hand, and fast.
“Bold of you to assume I’ll let you leave, Elle,” I replied with a wicked smile, cocking my head to the side. “But the more you try to tease me, Elle, the more I’ll tease you right back. I’ll lean in close to you…” as if to prove my point, I neared closer until our lips were barely touching. “And just when our lips are about to touch, I’ll pull back.” I pulled away and straightened, shooting a smirk towards her.
“You’re cruel,” I told him hoarsely, need leaking into my voice. “Kiss me. Please. For the love of god.”
The smirk on my face widened, though my heart skipped a beat at the need in her voice. Her face, though cast down, was twisted in need. For me.
“What was that, my love?” I crooned, trying not to let her pleading get to me. Yet. “What do you want me to do?”
I let my loose shirt slip lower over one shoulder, biting my lower lip. “Colton. Kiss me. Please.”
Shit. That was a bad move, Elle. Exposing skin like that, showing me a part of what I wanted to taste but couldn’t. I swallowed, my eyes darkening, falling to her lip between her teeth.
I decided it was enough. Teasing her like this was enough. So I leaned forward, pulled her sleeve back up on her shoulder because her skin just looked so damn soft, and finally brushed my lips against hers. I wouldn’t be the one to firmly clasp our lips together. It would be her.
I let a sigh of relief slip past my lips and pressed them firmly to his, pushing my fingers through his hair. “Finally…”
I pressed harder against her, pushing her back so I was hovering above her. God, I loved kissing her. Loved tasting her, loved her fingers in my hair. I loved every inch of her being and I wish she’d realize just how much she meant to me.
The kiss was firm, but somehow soft. Passionate, but lacking the hunger with which he frequently kissed me. I decided that I liked this way, too. It seemed… personal.
My heart fluttered weakly.
I caressed her lips with my own, kissing her like I was worshipping her. I kissed her, putting a claim on her that I had put on a thousand times. This woman was mine. Mine to touch, mine to kiss, mine to hold. I kept my hands pressed against the mattress to hold myself up as our lips never broke apart.
I would never stop loving this, the sensation of mutual attraction that ran farther than looks and body type. Part of the reason I kept delaying the next step was that I was simply tired of it. I knew that Colton would never use me, of course I did, but… it was nice to have a relationship where sex wasn’t a given. Where any teasing act would lead straight to it, even if I did want it. It was nice to love and be loved without the looming threat of the bed ever-present in the back of my mind.
I pulled away from her, panting heavily. The temperature had risen again and I immediately began to cool it down, reaching with my hand to touch her cheek lightly.
“We sure kiss a lot, don’t we,” I murmured. “I practically know and am familiar with every inch of your mouth.”
I inhaled shakily, arching a teasing eyebrow. “I—I hope you’re not complaining, Cole~”
I chuckled, briefly kissing her again.
“I certainly am not, Elle,” I said. “You push me to the edge, you know that, right?”
I twisted my lips into a bashful smile, offering a small nod. “I try…. teasing you for a change is fun~”
“The only downside is that you cause trouble for yourself,” I snickered before pulling up from her to put on my shirt.
“I mean, I got to tease you for hours, and got kissed in the end, so…” I gave a breathless grin. “I’d say I won this round.”
“Sweetheart, you were pleading me to kiss you,” I reminded her, stretching to purposefully flusterher. “I only put you out of your misery. In short, it was my win.”
