A subtle hitch in Solaris' breathing was the only response he could give when Izanami placed a kiss on his wrist.
He needed to stay focused, especially when he was holding up an illusion. Although now, he didn't need to hold it up anymore. Slowly, almost reluctantly, the purple glow of his eyes began to fade, and the illusion surrounding them vanished.
As they neared the door, Solaris took a moment to look back. He wouldn't be seeing these people again for some time, and would almost miss their friendly faces. Oh well… They wouldn't miss him.
"Lets go." he mumbled wistfully, smiling gently to Izanami. "And, just for the record, I wouldn't accept being killed by anyone else."
A laugh burst itself from the Reaper's throat, lovely and glittering in the night air as the pair stepped outside. How she was able to feel joy around the sharp pain in her chest, Izanami would never know, but it was a relief. Heavy conversation usually was not her forte. "You do say the sweetest things, Solaris." She said on another chuckle, her eyes crinkling with mischievous mirth as she weaved their arms together.
Despite their more relaxed composure, a dark cloud lingered over the both of them. Izanami was going to have to ask Solaris about his line of questioning at some point and aside from that, they were going to have to start on this job soon as well. She sighed, puffing the air out of her cheeks like a child.
All this and yet she'd never ask for a different 'human' life.
A dazzling smile exploded on Solaris' face as Izanami started laughing, it always warmed his heart when she showed emotion such as that. "Well if I was horrible, you wouldn't want to stay." Solaris shrugged, an innocent spark shone in his eyes. He patted her arm gently as they made their way through the city to their favorite gelato place. The Exorcist was going to ignore the insidious feeling he sensed in the air, now wasn't the time to be worrying about that. Tomorrow was another day. The slight bounce of his satchel reminded him of the file he had refused to look at earlier on, surely it wasn't that bad?
They were there in no time at all, the slightly dark magenta sign hung like a portrait over the entrance. As Solaris opened the door for Zana, the instant sugar rush began just from all the scents of the building. He glanced down at Zana and gestured to the open door. "Ladies first."
Solaris had spoken–to air at least–because Izanami was already within the store, having zoomed past her master as soon as he opened the door. She was looking lovingly down at the flavors. Silently mouthing each one as she debated. The girl behind the counter barely looked up, throwing the duo a dirty look before returning to her phone.
"I think raspberry today." Izanami murmured, placing a finger on the glass she she thought. Her sharp nail making a keen tap against the clear window. "Or maybe–oh look Solaris! It looks like pomegranates are in season. Perhaps I shall–" Her voice abruptly cut off by a angry yell followed by a specter of an old woman darting through the store. The girl behind the counter had no reaction. "–Ah well. Looks like Granny Vittoria is still here." The Reaper said with a playful eye roll in reference to the troublesome ghost.
(I haven't forgotten, I'm just a little busy this weekend so I'll respond when I can)
(as always–no worries!)
(I'll be responding to this when I wake up in the morning, I'm not well at the moment so I need to sleep)
(no worries at all :D)
The Exorcist shook his head as he entered the building, watching Izanami with intent as she mulled over the flavors. He too could see the elderly phantom, but his vision wasn't as strong as Zana's. Besides, there was something else on his mind; there was an unusually off-balance atmosphere inside the usually calm store. As per usual, the girl behind the counter was uninterested in the world around her and was staring at her phone, though it was a little too good for it to be natural. Solaris made his way over to where Izanami was looking at the flavors and leaned down. "I'm in the mood for something unusual, what do you say? Why not have a combination we haven't had before?" Of course, while he was in the mood to try a new gelato combination, he was actually trying to ask Zana if she could sense something off too.
Looking up into Solaris' eyes was usually a recipe for bad thoughts and her heart to go into overdrive–that is if she even had a heart–but at this moment Izanami was more curious than cautious. The way he was speaking so quietly about gelato, despite not even looking at it, alerted her to something off.
The Reapers gaze flicked around the store, landing on the girl behind the counter more than once. Now that she was paying attention. The air seemed tight and electrified. Something was trying to hide from them. "Unusual sounds good to me. You know I love a good sneaky flavor combination." Izanami murmured warmly to her master. The specter of Granny Vittoria flicked through the store again, always looking for her bakery that burned down ages ago with her inside. Oddly, and for the first time in the years that Solaris and Izanami had been coming to this shop, the ghost paused and looked at them.
Her ghostly features were usually set in a worried frown, but now as she raised her arm to point at the girl behind the counter, her mouth opened in a horrific and silent scream. The Reaper froze, looking first at Solaris then at the girl once more. She stood on her tip toes, making it look like she was going to kiss the man's cheek, but instead whispered "I think we have a Gujona trying to sell us gelato." She allowed a bit of her magic to pool in her palm, ready to move as soon as Solaris did. The shape-shifting, soul eating cretin behind the counter wasn't going to wait forever.
Solaris took a moment to figure out what he was going to do. A Gujona was never good news, especially in a place like this where children were an easy target. Last time they had found a Gujona, it was disguising itself as a theme park employee—again, a place riddled with children.
The Exorcist kneeled down in front of the flavors as if he were still trying to make his mind up, however his right hand was drawing a Censor rune on the floor. He mumbled an entrapment spell, allowing his eyes to fall upon three key areas of the room, and small white crystals appeared in those chosen areas.
The familiar soft purple glow reappeared in Solaris' eyes as rose up and gently brushed his hand against Zana, whispering "Mirage".
The two of them could only be seen by the demon, just like the demon could now only be seen by them. Solaris leaned down to Izanami with a grin. "Ready when you are."
Izanami vanished entirely from Solaris' side, the only indication that she'd moved was a soft brush of displaced air against his cheek. She reappeared once more, just to the left of the Gujona, but the cretin was prepared. Probably on high alert since they had walked in–Izanami's fault more than likely since her aura was certainly difficult to put under a cloaking spell. Just as the Reaper landed, the Gujona moved, turning and slamming her hand into Izanami's chest and sending her clear through the wall. Luckily, Reaper had already launched her own attack–the energy force in her hand, which also landed on it's mark and sent the Gujona slamming into the opposite wall with an unearthly screech.
As the dust cleared, Izanami stepped through the hole her body had made in the wall, smiling manically. "Well! That was expected."
While Izanami was keeping the demon busy, Solaris had set about casting a circle across the floor—making sure the five crystals were in the focal point. As the Reaper broke through the wall, his hold over the illusion wavered a bit. The cloud of dust from the crash threatened to shroud Solaris, but with the swift block from his hand, not a particle touched him or his work. The impact of the Gujona slamming into the wall caused his entire body to shake, and once again his hold wavered. The longer he held the illusion around the three of them, the more the fatigue began to set in. They were going to have to get rid of the demon as quickly as possible.
The Gujona had now noticed Solaris as a potential threat and began to charge towards him. The Exorcist was ready, albeit a little nauseous. The moment the demon was within the circle, the crystals began to glow. He held one hand out towards the Gujona, holding his spell book with the other, and quickly began to recite the words written within:
"By the creativity of The Maiden this spell was written,
Sustained by the unending energy of The Mother,
The Crone of Great Power dissolves your unwanted form,
And banish you from this place forever more."
The Gujona's form began to writhe with pain, before the circle itself began to glow. Soon enough, the demon's body began to disintegrate until there was nothing more than a pile of ashes on the floor.
(Sorry this is so bad, I just wanted to say anything so that this RP doesn't die)
