Seren rolled his eyes. "I am only asking you to answer questions."
Seren rolled his eyes. "I am only asking you to answer questions."
“Uh huh.” Kaylum tilted his head. “Just to answer questions. Sure.”
He glared. "You do not need to make this so difficult."
“But what if…” he fingered a hanging deadlock. “What if I want to make this difficult?”
He scoffed. "Then I can have a guard drag Nikolas in here, and every time you refuse to answer, he can get the lash."
Kaylum frowned. “That’s poor form, human. I am the one making things difficult, so you should lash me if I refuse to answer. Prince Nikolas has no part in this.”
"You seem like the type that would not be willing to talk because of your own pain, but if that is what you want me to do, then you can certainly get the lash instead."
“That’s perfectly fine with me,” he said, though his heart was beginning to pound noticeably.
"Fine. But if you don't talk, we will bring Nikolas in here and see if his pain will invigorate your memory." Seren stood, and called in some of the guards.
He let out a breath. How was he going to do this? Give just enough information so he wouldn’t bring Nik in? That would fail at some point. Who knows how long Seren would keep him here. Either Kay would be so stubborn that Nik would be brought in, or Kay would accidentally give just enough information that would allow Seren even more of an advantage over him.
But then, it was the best he could think of at the moment.
The guards all watched Kaylum, and Seren gave them orders. Two guards took Kaylum by the arms, pulling him up from the seat.
He immediately recoiled at the touch, growling at the guards in a way that was less human, more animalistic. His sharp teeth were bared, his mismatched eyes wide. “Don’t you dare touch me,” he snarled, moving to curl himself back up to get away from them before standing up on his own.
The guards sighed, looking to Seren for guidance. Seren, somehow still managing to look bored, shook his head at Kaylum's behavior. "Prince Kaylum, behave yourself." he said.
(Oof poor guards need a raise)
(ye lol)

Kaylum glared at Seren. “Just because I’m now willing to cooperate does not mean I gave consent to be touched,” he said, voice low.
Seren rolled his eyes. "That is not how this works, Kaylum." he replied, shaking his head a little.
“You think I know how this works?” Kay scoffed. “I’m a prince. From Tesh. I know nothing of these lowly, human ways of yours.”
Seren shook his head again. "We must immobilize you so you don't pull away from the lash. Either the guards can hold you, or I can chain you."
Kaylum threw up his hands and let them down again. “Thank you, that’s all you had to say,” he sighed, though he could feel his heart pounding again. “I will let your guards touch me now, then.”
Seren seemed irritated, shaking his head again and moving about the room to get the lash. The guards took hold of Kaylum's arms, manuevering him into position.
He just focused on breathing, trying to keep himself composed and calm despite the discomfort and coming pain. He had likely never felt pain that was equal with being lashed, so he needed to prepare himself mentally, if not physically. There was no resistance to the guards’ manhandling, even though one could probably tell it was greatly desired.
Seren rolled up his sleeves, shaking his head. "It's a pity that you couldn't just answer my questions." he said.
Kaylum was silent, still mentally preparing himself. He took deep breaths, glad that he had been exercising before this.
"I'll give you one more chance. How does your country's law of succession work?" none of Seren's spies had reported back, so he could only assume they had been found and killed.
