(yeah thanks!)
(Oh it’s *powder, not power)
Kay sighed faintly, rubbing his thumb against his chin. “Well… my scales are fairly good armor against arrows, but it wouldn’t be good if one hit any soft tissue. I could perhaps hide you with my wings, but it would also not be good if an arrow hit one. And if they have any more heavy hitting weapons than a bow and arrow, we’re still in trouble.” He paused, thinking a bit more, then murmured, “I wonder if we could steal the armor of the guards outside. Wait, no. Too heavy. We’d be slowed down.”
(I figured that was it lol)
Nik nodded faintly. "Plus, I doubt they have any dragon armor that you could use." he said, frowning a little as he tried to think of what they could do in this situation, how they could get out somehow.
Kay pursed his lips. “Alright. The way I see it, our only options are to, I don’t know, see if my powers come back somehow, or that if we do manage to get out of the cell, then we sneak out of the camp without anyone noticing. That way, we won’t be getting a face full of arrows and blades.”
"Yeah. Escaping at night might work better, as we would be harder to see, but it would still be very difficult." he said, running a hand through his hair. His gaze was fixed on Kay for now, as if studying him, though he honestly was more focused inwards than outwards.
He nodded. “Nighttime is smart,” he agreed. It was a little strange, having Nik’s prolonged gaze on him, but Kay didn’t comment. Seeing the other man run his hands through his hair, Kay decided to do something similar. He tried to use telekinesis to move his dreads on their own. To his dismay, they barely moved, seeming to jump into the air before gravity to ahold of them again.
Nik's eyes narrowed faintly at the way Kay's dreads twitched, but he didn't say anything about them. "The difficulty is still going to be getting out of the cell unnoticed. We need the keys, but I don't know where or how we can get them."
Kay sighed, then fastened his dreadlocks together with the silver clasp. He twisted them around to form something similar to a messy bun.
“I could probably figure out where they are,” he offered, “though it’s not like I’ll be able to bring them here. My guess is Seren’s tent.”
"That would be great." he replied softly. "If you could at least see where they are, to give us an idea of it." he ran his hands through his hair again, eyebrows drawing together.
Kay gave the bun a final tug then rested his hands in his lap. “Sure. I do not want to use up too much energy though, so I can’t do it right now,” he shrugged. “If they would feed us I would probably feel better about it.”
"Of course." he glanced over to the door, frowning for a moment. "It would be nice if they fed us, yes, but…" he trailed off, shifting a little.
He stared at the other man for a long time. “They’re not going to feed us, are they?”
"They may not. It will weaken us and make it easier for them to…do things." he said, wincing faintly as he looked at Kaylum again. "I am sorry about that."
“Oh. Well, it makes sense,” Kay shrugged. “I mean, it’s not like I expected to eat tender spiced mutton around here. I can just rest a while.” Then he furrowed his brow. “Also, you’re apologizing again.”
He shrugged his shoulders. "It is my fault that this has happened, if I did not apologize…" he trailed off, looking tired. "I do not know. I am just tired."
His ear twitched in annoyance. “When is it going to get into that thick skull of yours that none of this is your fault?” He groaned. “No offense, but the constant self-blame is starting to get old.”
He looked down at his hands for a moment. "My apologies?" he raised his eyebrows faintly, looking over at Kaylum again. "I did not mean to…annoy you?"
Kaylum responded to that with another long stare. Then he looked away. “Nevermind. I should be the one apologizing. I shouldn’t have let a little thing like that annoy me when we’re in a situation like this.”
He exhaled, then shifted to dragon form. Leaning on his side, he brought his feathered tail up so he could preen and groom it.
Nik watched him for a long moment, then looked up at the ceiling with a faint sigh. "Sorry." he mumbled again, not sure what he was even apologizing for anymore.
Kay just snorted in reply. “I will look for the key soon,” he said. He went back to grooming himself.
"Alright." he said slowly, reaching up and using the bars of the cell to pull himself to his feet. He wanted to test his leg; the sooner it was back in working order, the better. Carefully, he lowered it down to the ground, though he didn't put a lot of weight on it yet.
After a while, Kaylum began to watch him. It was the first time he had seen Nik upright in a while, and also there was not much else to do.
Nik took a deep breath, keeping his gaze on his feet. If he fell, he fell, and there was nothing he could do about it, but he wanted to see if he could at least hobble. He let go of the cell, arms outstretched a little bit for balance, and most of his weight still on his good leg. He eventually started to put more weight on the left, wincing when it sent shards of pain up it.
Kay’s ear twitched. “Careful. Are you alright?” He asked, studying Nik with interest.
