Kane hummed his agreement, running his fingertips over the picture and then stopping at the writing underneath. He picked out a few words but found it pointless to try.

Olivia kindly took the book from him and propped it up in front of them both, following where she read with a finger beneath the line.
This creature is the embodiment of darkness; its main weakness will be fire as its magic can indeed be burned. You'll find it keeps to shadows and darker regions, and only exposes itself in times of starvation or territorial wars. It manipulates light and dark and easily renders itself invisible to the human eye.

Kane frowned slightly as she read out loud, "If they have these types of creatures in their hoard then what else do they have? Probably things a lot worse."

Olivia shuddered. "Hadn't thought about that." She tucked the book under her arm. "Where do we go from here?" she asked confidenly, hoping he didn't realise that it translated to What the hell is happening, someone help me.

Kane shrugged, leaning back in the seat, "We need to get an army ready, we need to recruit allies, we need to prepare for war."

Olivia huffed, shaking her hair into her face. "Just an average Tuesday, then."

She nodded resolutely, biting her lip. "Well. Let's go."
She walked out of the library, maps under her arm.

Kane waited a moment before following, glancing back at the fairy tail before he hurried to catch up, muttering something in his native tongue.

They marched down to the soldiers' barracks, walking into a room full of double bunks and small windows. Buff men lay here and there, chatting, playing cards, eating.
Olivia waved Kane in, giving an indicative nod towards the soldiers. You're up.
