"Suppose I do." She said, standing up straighter.
"Suppose I do." She said, standing up straighter.
Deborah’s grin widened with excitement, “Would you come with me now? Just to show you where it is?”
She nodded. "If you shall have me."
“Indeed I will have you,” She offered a hand.
Annalise took the hand, smiling softly. "Thank you, miss…?"
“Deborah, but everyone calls me Dovie. What about you?” She began making her way down the street with her.
"Annalise, Miss Dovie." She said, mock bowing.
Dovie giggled, “It isn’t far, I promise.” She pushed through the crowd, giving intermittent Excuse me’s.
She trailed after her, looking around.
Deborah brought her to a little tavern on the side of the street. She hopped yo the porch and opened the door for her new friend, “Welcome to my humble abode,” she giggled.
"Why, thank you!" She said, grinning.
“You’re welcome!” She mirrored the grin, letting Annalise enter first.
Being daytime the tavern wasn’t very populated, apart from the few couples sharing lunch and gossip.
Annalise shuffled inside, looking around.
Deborah guided her behind the counter to introduce her to her father, who was passing time washing glasses with a soapy rag,
“Ah, back so soon, love?” He spoke, with just as heavy an accent as Deborah.
"Hello, sir." She said, nodding slightly.
Isaac looked between Annalise and Deborah, “What happened here? I thought you left with a man?”
Deborah giggled, “My date left me and Annalise needed some dinner and a bed so I brought her here.”
Isaac looked back at Annalise, “Well, You’ve come to the right place, little lady.” He smiled behind his beard.
"Thank you, sir." She said politely.
“Well, there are plenty seats open so take your pick. Dovie can tell you what we have on the menu.” He poured some alcohol into the glass from the tap.
She nodded, taking a seat in the corner.
Dovie followed close behind her, “What are you in the mood for? We have soup, several kinds of bread, alcohol, pasta, sandwiches…” she trailed off.
"May I have the soup, please?" She said, smiling.
Absolutely!” Deborah beamed, “What kind? We have clam chowder, onion and herb, and probably any other kind you can think of.”
"Herb, please?" She said, taking out a few coins.
“Of course, and anything to drink?” She offered.
"No, thank you." She said.
