"I know." he murmurs, tossing the luggage in the boot of the car and slamming it shut.
He walks over to the driver's side door and opens it, leaning into the car.
"Just. . . don't trust anybody, okay?"
"I know." he murmurs, tossing the luggage in the boot of the car and slamming it shut.
He walks over to the driver's side door and opens it, leaning into the car.
"Just. . . don't trust anybody, okay?"
She laughed softly. “Not even you?”
"Okay, you know what I mean. You can trust me." he chuckles, kissing her on the cheek quickly.
"See you later, Ms. Barlowe." he murmurs, closing the door.
She sighed softly. “Thank you…”
He smiles.
"Any time. And remember, I'll find you."
She sighed and gently hugged him. “Be careful, okay?”
He nods, hugging her back.
"I will. I always have been, remember?"
“Yeah. Yeah, I know.” She stared up and placed her hands on the steering wheel.
He smiles one last time at her before stepping away.
"Drive safe. I'll find you, and always remember that I'll be with you in spirit, until I can see you in person."
“I will, I promise.” She sent him one last smile before she began to drive away.
He waves until he can't see her anymore, then the smile drops off his face.
For the next few months, she went into hiding, staying wherever she could find a safe haven. She tried to get in contact with him multiple times, but to no avail.
In that few months, Zeeshan settles his debts and prepares to follow Reia.
He couldn't manage to contact her, but it wasn't for lack of trying
Staring at the burner phone in his hand, Zeeshan shivers.
For the first time ever, he was about to go against the law. It felt. . . weird.
He did his best to shake off the feeling, getting onto the subway, bags in hand.
He was going to city limits, then further, to track down his friend.
She sat on the stairs of the hotel she was staying at, thinking. She had tried so many tactics to find her friend, but none of them seemed to be working.
He slowly combs through the areas Reia would likely be at, asking for her fake name - the one he'd given her as a joke. That had been an idea they'd tossed around when they were younger: fake names, in case they became criminals.
He never thought he'd actually be one.
He stumbles across an older hotel, cheap. He asks for the name, not hoping.
And then the person at the desk says "Yeah, she checked in a few weeks ago."
He looks hopeful, and combs the entire structure, finding her in a stairwell.
"Hey." he says casually, as though they hadn't seen each other in months.
She looked up, and her eyes immediately widened. “Zeeshan?”
"The one and only." he smiles, dropping his bags and lifting Reia into a tight hug, not bothering with balance or any of that.
She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him into a tight embrace.
"Told you I'd find you." he laughs, spinning her around before falling backwards with a yelp.
She laughed and leaned down to kiss his forehead. “Still clumsy?”
"I am a graceful human being, for how much human being I have to work with." he replies, with humour.
She smiled and rolled her eyes. “I missed you so much.”
"I know you did. I'm a very notable human." he says with a grin.
She smiled and rolled her eyes. “Did they catch you?”
A long silence.
"Nearly." he murmurs.
