"Uh. Demon. Job?" he pointed out, rolling his eyes and pulling up his own handfuls of material, weaving them together expertly.
"Here, if you really want one so badly," he said, offering the angel one made of wild sunflowers. "Matches your weird eyes."
Yuki blushed a bit, he’s never been complemented by anyone before, since he always kept to himself. “Thanks…” he slowly grabbed them, and finished the flower crown, although it looked a little weird.
"Hey, don't thank me, man. we're supposed to be mortal enemies or whatever. You're just lucky I still remember how to make those stupid things." He idly flicked a pebble off his rock, watching it bounce off.
“I think you guys aren’t bad. Demons aren’t all mean…” he said somewhat quietly. Yuki put a flower crown on Bell’s head, giggling. It looked really cute
"Ew, gross," Bael grumbled, ducking away. "What sort of angel are you, huh?" He eyed the angel up and down, folding his arms. "Last angel I met tried to rip my head off. Darn-near managed it too. You that opposed to the war?"
“I may be an angel, but that doesn’t mean I’m in favor of the war. I hate this war…” Yuki said worriedly. He said this next part quietly. “Demons have more freedom then us… especially royalty…”
"Yeah, sure," Bael muttered, looking away. "At least you guys don't live in freaking Hell. You can't even imagine how bad it is. It's not just for the torture of sinners, you know. No one's free from pain there. Not even royalty. We're all suffering, constantly hurting. Not even coming to Earth can help, really."
He rubbed his shoulders, as if remembering some old wound that still plagued him, shivering slightly.
Yuki looked down. “You don’t seem like another demon I’ve met, or angel for that matter…” Yuki focused on the ground below him. “I really don’t think there’s a difference between our species, it’s just our location that’s different…”
Bael shifted away uncomfortably, suddenly feeling terribly exposed. This angel was strange, unlike any he'd met before, and the lack of aggression in the air left him feeling lost, without any familiar path to tread. He felt trapped, suddenly wanting an out from a more introspective conversation than he was willing to have.
"What's wrong with you?" he snapped, standing and knocking off the flower crown. letting it fall limply to the ground. "We should be fighting, for Satan's sake, not chatting like a couple of old ladies. I'm out of here, this is stupid."
He turned away, pausing for only a second in case the angel were to reply.
“Fighting…” Yuki got up suddenly. “I won’t fight you.”
Yuki held out his arms. “Take my head, plaster it on a wall. I won’t fight you. Our species are the same!”
Bael recoiled, wondering if this angel had been driven insane by the endless conflict. He certainly could see it happening.
"Talk like that, and I won't have to kill you," he snarled. "Your own bloody side will have you for treason. I'll take a hard pass on execution personally."
“I thought you would want a princes head… I guess not.” Yuki turned around and started to walk off.
Bael watched him, seriously confused. In a moment of blind panic, he made either the worst or best decision of his life, he would contemplate that later.
"Wait, wait, hold on, hold up."
He took a couple steps after the angel, reaching out haltingly.
"Just…uh…wait?"
“You heard me.” Yuki said, continuing to walk.
"Okay, pal, listen, I'm sorry I snapped at you, okay?" Bael started jogging after the angel. "I'm just not used to that kind of talk you know? That stuff gets you hurt where I'm from, and I'm not a huge fan of pain. You startled me."
He followed for a second, then stopped dead.
"Wait, you're a prince?!"
“Yep. Yukio insert last name at your service…” Yuki his his head a bit. “Let me guess you’re gonna put my head on a platter.”
"Bael Phe'gol," he replied, a little lost in the wonder of this strange being. "Uhh…Why are you so sure I want your head?"
“I have a large bounty… I come to the border hoping to be killed. Maybe some sense will be knocked into my air headed parents…” Yuki rolls his eyes when he mentions his parents, he really hates them.
"Oh. My. Satan." Bael's eyes widened and he backed away again. "No way I'm not killing you now, then I'd be doing you a favor! Do you have any idea what Hell does to demons who give angels favors? I'd be eaten alive!"
“It’s not a favor. It would be helping your side. Do you know how bad the king wants me and my sisters head?” Yuki said, stopping dead in his tracks.
"Hmm." Bael considered, circling the angel. "And…you…don't mind this idea? I mean, I sure would. I like my head firmly on my shoulders. What's got you that determined to die?"
“My parents… they are so conniving and evil… they only care about themselves and hate all who go against them… I hate them! They want me to be the perfect king, well you know what, when I’m king I’m going to unite hell and heaven, we’re equal. Nothing different. Maybe if they’re ‘perfect little angel’ was gone then maybe some sense would go through their thick skull…” Yuki didn’t mean to sound rude, but that’s what it sounded like.
"But how would you unite jack-anything if I kill you now?" Bael argued, coming to a stop in front of Yuki. "Not that I agree with everything you're saying, but uh…you'll need to be alive, right?"
He wasn't sure about how he felt about all this, but his first reaction of horror was starting to fade to be replaced by a cautious curiosity.
“I-I never thought of it that way… maybe… maybe my parents, are the one I need gone.” He said, no emotion in his voice what so ever.
"Woah, there, buddy, don't go all murderous on me now," Bael said throwing up his hands. Then he paused still confused. "Or…maybe do? I'm a demon, I should be trying to get you to do bad stuff. I guess, go for it, if you really want. I'll cheer you on from back here. I'll be your number one fan, just from a very safe distance."
