The body had been mutilated so terribly it was nearly unrecognisable. The young male was missing his right leg, ripped clean off. A chunk was missing from his left, though most of the limb was still present. Someone had dug out his insides, leaving them sprawled by his feet in a manner that could only described as less then delicate and his arms, one bent in entirely the wrong direction and the other missing a hand on his left side. His throat had been slit, three large claw marks digging right to the bone. Dark red blood spilled down his face from where he was missing an eye and his tongue, gone from his mouth. The body had been left on a rooftop overlooking the Thames.
Hi yes, tis I, the resident Carrot. It's been a minute since I started a new RP but I thought since a lot of mine have died I would start a new one.
(If I am currently in a RP with you I'm sorry for slow replies, life is up my ass and I am in the process of changing schools and completing some very important assignments before I leave).
So, the basis of the prompt. Set in London, 1843, there is a body of a mutilated child found. The murderer is no where to be seen and the police are baffled. Unfortunately, the boy that is found is your characters best friend. Your character turns to a private investigator who is more then he seems to be - and has some very strange friends and philosophies. But, for the sake of justice, the fact that more people are getting killed, the two team up to try and solve the mystery. Oh, and happen to fall in love along the way.
RULES - and other things:
This will be a MATURE RP for the sake that there will be heavy gore if you couldn't already tell from the prompt. And also for any other cough mature activities cough that might happen along the way. You have been warned.
Will definitely be gay so if that isn't your thing, this isn't your RP.
Please try and post more the one sentence. I know that I do it as well, however, try and keep the plot and the story going. If you can't think of much to write, try character internal dialogue at least.
Grammar, punctuation, and spelling is appreciated. Obviously occasional slip ups are okay but not constantly, it makes it hard to read and understand.
Please be understanding of the fact that I am not active that much, I try and get on where possible and I live in Australia, time zones are hard.
andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s rules, of course.
If I do not know you or your writing style, I will ask for a sample of writing so be prepared.
I can reject you if I wish, this isn't anything to do with me hating you, I love everyone on this website but some people's writing style doesn't work well with mine.
(Hey, Amber! Nice to see you again. It's okay if you haven't, I really only put it in there as a disclaimer. Since it's been a minute, could I have a writing sample?)
(Here's an rp sample then:)
(Rafael's breath caught in his throat at the sight of Evan's smile. After such a full day, he felt like he was about to tear up at the sheer beauty in that single expression.
He sighed happily, swallowing the tears down easily, and put a hand on Evan's shoulder. He squeezed it gently, affectionately, and met his eyes. "I'm just glad I could, and can, help you."
Beside them the elevator chimed open and an elderly woman stepped out. She looked at both boys and her wrinkled face lit up with excitement. "Raffy! It's so nice to see you!" Her gaze landed on Evan holding onto Rafael, and her smile grew. "This boy's a gem, isn't he?" she asked Evan cheekily with all the youth of a gossiping 16 year old girl.)
(Amazing thanks! And that sounds good)

It was late autumn when the body was found. The owner of the building had not been expected to find the body of a young adult on top of his building so late in the evening but then again, who would? All the man had wanted to do was have a smoke before he went back to bed but it looked like the world had other ideas. He had no idea who it was, then again the body was so deformed that he doubted many people would unless they knew the victim.
He'd gone to the police straight away, the chill of the English Autumn- near winter breeze cutting into the little exposed skin on his face as he had hurried down to the police station.
Sadly there was not much the police could do in the little they had of their lamps and the slight shine from the moon. So it was the next morning when the investigation was in full swing, well, as could as it could be. The victim had been identified and the chief of police, Robert Peel, was inquiring about the victim's known best friend.
He knocked on the door to Diego's door, lowering his hat from his head as he waited.
Diego was sat at his kitchen table when someone rapped loudly on his front door. He started and spilled his tea down his shirt, letting out a cry of pain at the scalding liquid. Sighing through his teeth, he got to his feet.
He’d spent most of the night awake, waiting. His friend Oscar was supposed to stop by his apartment and pick him up for an evening out. He’d never showed.
Diego padded over to the door and unlocked it. He pulled it open wide, a frown settling on his face as he took in the badge.
« Good morning, » he started mildly, leaning against the doorframe. « Can I help you? »
Robert cleared his throat, “Good morning, sir, I have come to inquire and inform you on some news regarding your friend, Oscar.” The subject would be hard to approach, however it was his job to talk about these sorts of things, “I’m afraid the news might be troubling. May I come in?”
Diego considered the man a moment before backing away to let him in. If this was about Oscar, he needed to know.
« I must admit, » Diego said taking a seat at the kitchen table again, « that this seems to be a timely announcement. Oscar and I were meant to meet yesterday night and he never came by. »
Roberts raised a brow, taking that into account, "That's the thing. We…" He sighed, knowing there was no easy way to say it but bluntly, "We found Oscar dead last night. Mutilated on top of a building near the Thames. I'm sorry."
Diego paused. "Pardon me? Mutilated?" he asked breathlessly. This wasn't good, not at all. He couldn't lose Oscar. He pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes, his mind going a mile a minute as he tried to comprehend what he had just been told.
The chief of police nodded, "I'm so sorry for your loss. We're looking into who might have done this to him and why but.. there isn't much we can do since there's not enough evidence." He sighed through his nose, "We've got out best men on the job but I'm afraid it won't be enough for this case, I'm sorry."
Diego inhaled deeply before lowering his hands and looking the police chief in the eye. « I appreciate you delivering these news personally, » he said blankly. « I would appreciate it, however, if you left now. You my address should you need to forward me any updates. » He fought to keep his voice steady and emotionless. He needed to keep a clear head and figure out where he was supposed to go from here.
He nodded, placing his hat back on his head, "Of course. I'm sorry there's not much else we can do. We've all drawn a blank on this case. If we find anything, we'll let you know. Good-bye, sir." The chief lowered his head before he headed out the door, shutting it softly behind him.
Diego watched the man leave, his words slowly registering. His friend had been murdered. Mutilated, even, and nothing was going to be done.
Beyond the grief that threatened to swallow him whole, that was something that Diego couldn't stand for. Gathering his coat and gloves, Diego was out the door in an instant, making his swift way to the town center.
The news of the murder seemed to have finally spread to the public. The town center was a buzz of scared whispering and gossip, wondering who might be next if the police couldn't do anything about the case. However, there was one man who seemed unfazed by the talk, keeping his hat tipped down as he tried to not look so suspicious as he eavesdropped people's conversation. The only conversations about the murder.
Diego knew what he was looking for. Through the years this man's reputation had reached Diego and Oscar, and had always fascinated them both. Diego had never thought he'd be in need of his services. Walking towards him now, Diego grew more and more nervous of where the meeting would lead him.
He slowed as the man grew near. He was standing in the crowd, listening intently. Diego stopped walking a few feet from him, taking in his discreet appearance, and cleared his throat.
Drayce turned his head when the other cleared his throat, an instinct telling him he was the one being called for. He took note of the other man, giving him a look as if he was accessing him for a moment before he spoke, “May I help you, sir?”
