"I'm not turning anything around. You know we didn't hurt your daughter. If I had known what was going to happen, I would have done everything in my power to save her, okay? I'm not going to run. You can shoot me if you want, but I doubt you want me to end up like her."
Adam tensed up at their words, taking a small step, eyeing the gun.
"Maybe we should just listen to him Orion, we could find a way out."
~~~
"Listen to your friend. I will shoot. I killed the murderer, and you guys are next. You both could have prevented it but you didn't, you didn't."
"I made an attempt to negotiate, don't forget that," they said. Then in one motion, they drew their knife and drove it through the man's hand, then yanked it back out. "Go, Adam." They spun and grabbed his hand, dragging them along behind him. "Faster, come on."
James screamed, dropping the gun to the floor, watching the two run away, "You little BITCH!" He picked up the gun and shot a couple of rounds at them, unsure if he hit them or not.
~~~
Adam yelped, running alongside Orion. His heartrate fastened, and he looked at Orion, "Where the hell are we going??"
"Come on, come on. Go, go, go. Don't ask questions. Come on. How long is this corridor?"
"I-I don't know, I don't see anything." Adam looked back and didn't see the man, "Orion, he's gone."
"Good. My, God." They stopped and collapsed on the floor, laying back. "You hurt?"
"Yes I am, you?"
Adam looked around, feeling unsafe, "Should we keep going? What if he's still coming?"
"You're hurt? Slow down, what?" Orion stood up.
"No no, I'm not, well yes, no, it's just, I can't, Orion what if he's still coming!!" Adam hurridly looked around, breathing heavily.
"Are you hurt? That's what matters. Listen to me. Calm down for a minute."
"Yeah, no, no I think I'm good." Adam said, tears biting viciously at the back of his eyes.
"Are you ok?"
"Are you sure, Adam." They dropped the question mark, no inflection in their voice. "I need you to be sure."
"Yeah. yeah I'm sure, just scared."
Adam took a hitched breath and lowered his head.
"Are you one-hundred percent sure. Adam! Look at me." They grabbed his chin and pushed it up. "You're going to be fine, okay. Just- stop freaking out."
Adam was crying, not hard, but tears were falling down his face.
"Yes, I'm fine Orion." He pushed their hand off of his face.
"We need to get out of here."
He sniffed.
"Stop crying. I don't know how to help you." They placed the knife back in its sheath.
"Oh stop being so damn dense, just leave me be, you're not helping."
Adam stood up and started down another corridor, hands deep in his pockets.
He had to find a way out.
“How am I being dense?” they said in annoyance and followed Adam down the hall. “I saved your ass back there.”
"Wonderful, thank you so much. But I'm scared Orion, damn cared, ok? So just leave me be."
Adam took a left, into yet another corridor of doors, "Damn it!"
Orion scoffed. “Sorry.” They went right, peering down the hall.
"Why are there so many damn doors, what's the point?"
Adam walked up to a yellow one and kicked it down, revealing what looked like a school room. He grunted and walked to the next door, kicking it down as well, another school room.
"Calm down, kid. No reason to have a conniption." They grabbed his wrist. "Come on. I have a feeling the whole hall is school rooms."
"Ok, ok, sorry."
He turned and started walking with them.
"Where are we going then?"
"I don't know. There isn't exactly a way to know." They stopped. "Actually." They pulled the knife out of its sheath and drew it across their palm, blood welling up in the cut. They pressed their hand against the wall, making a faint red handprint with a dark red slash down the middle.
