The doctor finishes his exam a few minutes later and steps off to the side of the room. Theodosia scurries over to Vivian, clearly uncomfortable with the man's presence. "Mrs. Montgomery, I would like to speak with you and your husband right now. Have someone go and fetch him."
Vivian steps slightly in front of Theodosia in a mildly protective stance. “Shall I go?” she whispers back to her.
Theodosia nods her head slightly. “Yes. This should only take a minute,” She whispers in response. The sooner she gets this conversation over with, the better.
With a nod and a half bow, Vivian exited the room in search of her Master. He was sat downstairs in his office. She knocked, and beckoned for him to follow.
Richard pauses with the letter that he’s writing when he hears the knock on the door. Grumbling, he stands up and follows Vivian out of the room and up the stairs to deal with the situation.
(Heads up, I'm going to be gone up until Sunday!! I have to go on a school trip, but I'll see you in a week <3)
Vivian leads him up the room, silently waving him towards the doctor before taking her place beside Theodosia again.
(Thanks for letting me know! I hope you have a fun trip! : ) )
Richard approaches the doctor and requests to know what exactly is going on. The doctor gestures for Theodosia to join them. She offers a small smile to Vivian before joining the men. The doctor then begins to quietly explain what's going on to them.
(Thank you!)
Vivian stands carefully close, just barely in earshot. Not proper etiquette, but Theodosia's smile was practically an invitation.
All of the blood drains from Theodosia's when she hears what's going on. Richard, on the other hand, is utterly delighted. It seems as though her husband is finally getting a baby. The doctor leaves a few minutes later. "I see you have finally made yourself useful," Richard comments with a smile before leaving the room as well.
(OH WOW OKAY I LEAVE FOR THREE DAYS AND THIS IS WHAT I GET BACK TO?!)
Vivian stands frozen until the sound of the closing door jolts her out of her haze. "Oh!" she breathes in a high-pitched whisper. "Theodosia, this is incredible!" she says slowly, looking over at her Lady and immediately noticing her pale, scared complexion.
(Surprise! That was a very wonderful reaction so thank you lol. Welcome back! How was your trip?)
Theodosia slowly nods her head, feeling numb. “Yes…….incredible,” She murmurs, though clearly not all too pleased about this. “I need to get some air. Will you come out to the garden with me?” All she cares about now is getting out of the house even if only for just a few minutes. She feels as though the walls are closing in on her.
Vivian opened and closed her mouth silently, hesitating. "Of course."
She took Theodosia by the arm and guided her out to the garden.
Theodosia follows her out of the house and into the garden. Once outside, she takes a seat on the bench and sighs deeply. Tears sting at her eyes and threaten to spill. She lifts her hand and quickly wipes them away.
In an unthought move Vivian grabbed Theodosia's hand. "Don't wipe them away. You can trust me."
This action surprise her and causes her to jump slightly. It only takes a moment before she relaxes. She can trust Vivian, she knows that. A split second later, she just looses it and turns into a sobbing mess.
Vivian sits down next to Theodosia, putting a hand around her shoulders. "That's right, ma'am. Let it all out."
Theodosia rests her head on Vivian’s shoulder, feeling like a mess. She was taught that ladies don’t cry and yet here she is, spilling tears and whimpering like a puppy.
For a moment, Vivian forgets the social split between them, and gently strokes Theodosia's head.
It takes longer than she'd like to admit but Theodosia finally manages to calm herself down enough to stop blubbering like an idiot.
Vivian carefully pulls away slightly from her. "Are you feeling a little bit better?"
Theodosia wipes her tears away and sniffles before sitting up. "Yes, thank you." Though she hates crying, she feels as though it was necessary this time.
"Why is this news so upsetting?" she asked quietly.
"Vivian, I can't have a baby. If it turns out to be a girl then Richard………and then my Mother nearly died when she had me." The words don't make much sense but she's fretting too much to care.
"Look at me," Vivian said firmly. "You will not die. I will not let you, nor will I let Master do anything against you. I'm not leaving until you are happier and safer than when I arrived."
It all came tumbling out in a rush, a rush that Vivian had not meant to express. But there was no going back now.
Theodosia lifts her head and forces herself to meet her gaze. Without thinking too much about it, she pulls her friend in for a hug. "Thank you, Vivian," She murmurs, really appreciating this. Things are really stressful right now so she really needs the support that Vivian is offering her right now.
