So I guess I’ll talk a little about my approach. I use a melody-based approach. Basically I mess around with melodies until something sticks- until I find something catchy and memorable. This is especially true of my instrumental music. One of the criteria for a “good composition” according to my AP theory course was “having a singable melody.” I interpret this in the sense of having a melody you want to sing along with, even if the song has no words. It’s a pretty subjective criteria, but it’s definitely the thing that’s helped me the most.

@icecubes

I mean, you don't need music theory training to write music, but it definitely helps some.
And piano, even if you don't play much, is at least helpful so you can hear how a bunch of different notes sound together.

i knowww but it makes things easier when i know what sounds good like,,,, scientifical theoryily
and you are so right

also, that makes sense, but i also want to try to make melodies that wont be confused with other songs, like original ones

@icecubes

I write some original stuff but some of my stuff is just remixes of things that became stuck in my head

ooo remixes are unique! i wish i could do that

Your Strength

Lord help me
I need your strength
To win this fight
Of love and life

(Chorus start)
Oh Lord, oh Lord
Give me your strength,
So I can end this war.
Oh Lord, oh Lord
Give me your love
So I can show
How I much I love them.
Oh Lord, oh Lord
Give me your hope,
So I can believe in you.
Oh Lord, oh Lord
Give me your forgiveness
So I can forgive those who make mistakes
(Chorus end)

Lord help me
To give my best to you
Oh Lord help me
To give my best to you

(Chorus x1)

Give me your strength,
Give me your hope,
Give me your compassion,
So i can be the best i can for you
So i can be the best i can for you
For you
For you
For you, you, you
