tune

Human

The world’s a stage, our life’s a show
Where could you go? So high, so low
A young proud soul, in fragile control
I grew past that a long time ago

Walking around, to dance about
Where could I go to hide alone?
The silence rise, like shadows do
They crawl behind to murder you…

I used to have all that I desire
Now they’re burned to ash and fire
I used to build things with my own hands
Now they’re gone, turned into sand

I wished to disappear and
Never return again
Stand up high and let me fall
Fall somewhere down…
Where I belong.

The life I live, in fantasy.
Much better there than reality.
At least I know I’m worth the wait…
At least the world is as I create…

I’ve walked along humanity’s way
Down the seas, across the lakes
I’ve searched around, so far, and up high
All I see, are full of lies

Down in the deepest corner
Of my heart, what would I find?
Darkened eyes, through mirrored walls
Looked through to find…
Nothing at all.

Idk man it’s late and I’m mad at the entire government

This one just oozes bitterness and I'm here for it. (I'm also sorry you have to deal with that at the moment)

I really like it! Very philosophical. My favorite line is "A song of memories/A tune between death and life"

Ode to Flying

Music-box notes
Like bluebirds float
On wings lifted up by the wind.
Examine the hills
And tell me
Can you count each blade of grass?
No, but you can see them dancing.
Now, little aria, follow the clouds
Are they softer than you?
Are they gentler?
Do they inspire something new?
Or do they soak your wings
When you get too close
And send you plummeting with every beat?
I thought so, but never mind.
Now is not the time to stop.
Now is the time to listen
Listen to the heartbeats
Of the creatures here
In this place.
That’s life.
That’s hope.
That's love.
And you
Can sing
It too.
But you have to use
Your heart along with your voice.
Feel them raising you higher
Until you can look down on the clouds
And feel joy.

insomnia

I remember twilight
It feels so long ago tonight.
Count the stars ‘cuz I ran out of sheep.
And I’ll count them all before I fall asleep.

Dreamland travelers left me behind
Stuck in bed waiting on time
There I'm lonely but inspired,
When they return I’m only tired.

In other news, I….did a thing. I turned a character sheet into experimental poetry??? (CW for themes of self-harm, I suppose, although under a different context)

It is in fact an accurate sheet for a character of mine, but also I went off the deep end when I was writing it. Some parts are better than others (maybe it's a collection of poems instead of just one? Idk.) but overall I like how it turned out.

hellll dusty the character sheet poetry is so!! good!! i cannot!!! bro i might have to steal that format sometime it's really incredible. the lines "Something is fundamentally wrong. There is no air here. There is unending hunger–or perhaps just misguided emptiness" and "Death in the jungle, the gods' curfew. Minimizing the excess of all that shines and moves and duplicates. Fire in the old farmhouse." are so evocative and raw. seriously, this is peak work. everyone please come read dusty's poetry

gahhhh thank-you–I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's a really fun format, I recommend trying it out! Haha yeah I like writing stuff that makes me feel things, even if they don't make much sense, so this was a treat to work on >w<

Thoughts rapidly swim through my head
kicking and thrashing around
i was unable to breathe
underwater
my cries were heard by only wind
no one came
and so I got used to the feeling of drowning
and i continued to dive futher into
the inner abyss of my mind
the thoughts there still moving the same pace but have more variety
wondering why to continue trying to reach air
It seemed so unattainable
some people tried to help
but they never understood why i felt like this
and the people that did
realized i was too far gone to be saved

i need a title i was thinking ode to overthinking but idk, this is the first piece of poetry ive written in a while that i actually really like

saying i wrote it with intense emotion made me happy i feel like thats the best complement you can give me atm, i heard somewhere that poetry is supposet to make you feel somethig and i try to be as descriptive as possible about what im feeling. thanke :) <3

Well im fine right now, writing is my outlet and i feel alot better after i write something like what you saw, but ill keep that in mind, and also same to you, im known as a good listener and i try to give the best advice i can and im very nonjudgemetal, pm me wenever (:
