So the basic story goes like this: Larry, the prince of a kingdom that I also don't have a for, is ordered by the king to go out into the world to complete a quest of his choosing in order to receive the crown and take his fathers place. His only companion is a brand new guard that may or may not be a little shady.
Turns out this new guard, Carl, is actually very shady. Being a bit strapped for money, he accepted a job that asked him to kill the prince of this kingdom that I still haven't named. Carl is a self-proclaimed adventurer and has gone to many places and done many things and may or not be taken in with how amazed at the world Larry, the prince who hasn't left his kingdom ever, is.
As you might of guessed, Carl doesn't think murder is as fun as hanging out with Larry, the prince of a kingdom he hates and also maybe a new friend?? Just a little bit of a friend though. Definitely not anything more than a friend, and absolutely nothing close to a 𝘣𝘰𝘺friend. Yup.
So Carl is in a gay panic during most of the journey with Larry and only falls deeper in love with him over the two years it takes them to complete their quest. TBH, they could have finished their quest in 8 months had they not been so focused on each other.
They're asked to go on a grand quest is to find a rare and magical flower in this ambiguous place far away from Larry's home for a vague reason because the author hasn't figured that bit out yet. Larry happens to really like flowers. Carl happens to really like Larry. So they go do it.
And that's basically what happens, not including the ending.
I have no idea what to name this story, nothing comes to mind. Magic is a thing in this universe, but not a big thing.
Yes, their names are really Larry and Carl, and yes, it was originally a joke.
