I used to want to write in past tense, which is kind of the default for books, but present tense is super popular now and it seems to come naturally to me. What do y’all prefer? What are the pros and cons of each?

I just get thrown off my present tense when I first start reading it, and writing it is tough because I'm not really used to it. I can only imagine the pros of present tense would be feeling like you're right in the midst of the action as it happens, but past tense easily accomplishes that too, so I dunno. Present tense works better for me when it's paired with first person, though.
It really depends on your preference. When it comes to present tense you risk losing a lot of potential readers because some people just cant stand it, but if that works for you then go ahead.
