She shook her head " I can't whenever I close my eyes you come to mind all bruised and cut and knowing that I couldn't had helped you " she said

“Well I’m right here. So you don’t have to worry about me.” He smiled softly, standing up.

" it should've been me" she said

“No, it shouldn’t have been.” He sighed, shaking his head. “I’m suppose to protect you, so I did my job.”

"why are you supposed to protect me?" She asked

“Because I’m your boyfriend, right?” Brad asked softly, pecking her cheek. “And that’s my job.”

She sighed scooting closer to him

“Am I right? Or am I wrong?” He asked softly, kissing her face a few times softly.

"you shouldn't have to protect me" she said

“Yes I should, I want to protect you.” Brad whispered, giving her a soft smile.

"I know you want to but you're not always going to be able to it was between me and your gang" she said

“Babe, I want you to not put so much on pressure on yourself.” He told her softly, kissing along her face once more. “I can handle myself. And take care of you.”

"could you handle yourself last night" she asked

“I did, until she got to me.” Brad whispered, stroking her hair.

"exactly " she said

“But that wasn’t your fault.” Brad pointed out, rubbing his thumb over his cheek.

"she's going to keep going after you and I'm not going to be able to stop her every time"she said a tear rolling down her cheek

Letting out a soft sigh, he pulled back from her to sit on the edge of his cot. "I'll just have to be more careful. I wasn't expecting it, so she got the jump on me. Now I know she's coming." He hummed, clicking his tongue.

"I don't, you really think I don't know what she's capable of?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "Do you really think I'm that dumb? I just got partial impact of what she can do tonight. I know what she can do."

She looked at him." Dumb!?" She asked " I never said that"

"It was implied." Shrugging, it didn't seem to bother him in the current moment. "I can go off of a dozen other words if it would be you feel better. I've got a few engraved into my back."

She quickly sat up wincing slightly at the pain " we've done all we can to.fix you you can go" she said
