I have plenty of settings within my stories and worlds that do things that would possibly defy logic if I fail to explain how exactly it works. Such as a large building/nation floating and being attached to tree leaves, or places below the sea that manages to keep water out despite the water practically touching the walls and entrances. How exactly could be the best way to make your stories logical in those senses?
Well maybe you could have magical stones that have specific magical properties depending on what type of stone they are and how they're cut. You could have an anti-gravity stone, a water-repelling stone, any stone you can think of. Some could be more rare than others, some could require an expert stone mason to cut perfectly. Maybe there's one stone that's the only one of its kind because the person who cut it never revealed his process!
I'm just taking off with this now…
