okay so, I've had an idea for a book I'm writing for almost four years now, and the biggest thing that keeps me from advancing past plot ideas is the fact that I don't know what their world would be like. The story involves a monarchy, and their religion will revolve around nature and creatures of the forests… I can try to explain in more detail if anyone wants me to. anyone have any advice/ideas?
Treehouse civilization? Everyone lives in treehouses in the forest, and the monarchy have a big ass treehouse on a massive tree like a redwood or something

This advice might seem dumb, but what really helps me is literally just looking up cool places on earth. I follow a Google images train. I wander around the National Geographic site. Seriously, it's so inspiring! I'm also working on making a list of locations, because I realized that having your scenes take place in spots that don't normally get seen in stories will make it that much more interesting. So instead of a coffee shop, how about a cat cafe? Instead of a school hallway, how about underneath the jungle gym? I just make random lists of random places so that I don't forget to give my scenes some variety.
My best advice is to look at the way Native Americans lived. Their religion was spiritual and nature-based, and they lived in a menagerie of different places. It might give you some good ideas.

Hmmm, there is the animism religion, that you can search up :) Basically the religion is centred on the idea that EVERYTHING possesses some sort of life energy- I have read little on this, but it is an interesting concept

I think the idea trees that tower into the sky and the more important you are is the higher you live. The nobles are a tan color due to getting sun and the commoners are super pale due to the sun not reaching the depths. Also you could have them fighting for rights to bask in the sun.
