That's it. Ask me questions. I have often found that people besides me are more likely to consider the things I have not. Plus I enjoy talking about my greatest creation. So please ask away. Literally (I think) anything will be accepted. I might not have the answer. If I don't, I will either get back to you on it or forget it exists. But hopefully this will be a decent experience for you. And it should be good for me.

@saor_illust school

i'm sorry, but i think you've mentioned althalos before but i can't quite remember what it is??
based on the location of this thread i'm assuming it's a world you made?

anyways, if my assumption is correct, what's the general landscape of althalos?

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

Responders!!!
It is varied. There is a range of mountains, there are a few streams and rivers. There are many many trees, most of them being conifers. Althalos itself is an island so there are beaches on almost all parts. At one end there is a place that is nothing but giant basalt pillars that is a treacherous maze. There was at one point, a march full of quicksand, though I don't know if that will remain.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

There are four tribes. I will expound upon this later. They moved to the island more than a thousand years before the main story begins because one of the four tribes, the Menna. became very powerful and drove them out because of ruthless empire building. (Some of the Menna were sympathetic so that's why they are on the island.)

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

Here's a snatch that will give you some basic information on the tribes.

The Ménna tribe is considered the craftiest of the tribes. And it is true. No other tribe is better at cooking up a plan to do anything or overcome any problem by thinking outside the box. Many inventions came from the Ménna’s ingenuity. Some alFén are more likely to be prejudiced against them as some Menna have taken a trade in selling beauty products, many of them useless.
The alFén are thought of as thinking themselves to be the best. That's because they do. Their enhanced senses and odd, reflective eyes make them seem more other than all the tribes except the Gobé-Li. They are quick to take offence and provoke disgust for their insistence that beauty matters more than anything else. The alFén themselves think that breeding with another tribe taints their perfect genes and alters their beauty. Even so, it is no secret that alFén of the lower houses have takes spouses from other tribes, usually Ménna.
The Dweor are first and foremost, practical, even so that they take no notice of any social custom of another tribe that doesn't make sense. They even chose to be shorter than the other tribes so as to spend less work on house building. They are seen as odd because of their intensely structured lives and customs. They are seen as ferocious warriors that will stop at nothing to defend themselves if their anger is roused. This is mostly incorrect. The Dweor are largely a peaceful people, ruled over by the Máhz Múlm (Great Mother) who discourages violence; Except for the Dweor custom of Thék, one rarely even mentioned to those not within the tribe's sworn ring of family. Thék is the only reason they have their reputation. When their peaceful disposition is disturbed by a great crime against one of their people, they are ruthless and cruel, going so far as to kidnap the offender or the closest relation of them and torturing them by barbaric methods, normally leaving them to die of it or delivering the dead or barely living body to the door of the offender as a warning to all.
The Gobé-Li are thought of as cruel animals which are barely human and do not deserve the treatment and respect humans should have. This is partially bought on by their gray skin and the way they swing from trees to move. The other part is their deadly aim with stones and poisoned handheld darts. What is unknown is that the Gobé-Li have declared war on the alFén.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

A lot of them follow the one god. The Menna call him Theusont which simply means Our God. The tribes except for the modern Gobé-Li follow him. To a certain extent. The Dweor are the most religious tribe as the Mahz Mulm is both ruler and high priestess. The Menna are more casual about it, but many still consider religion very important to them even though few of them do religious gatherings. The alFén… I don't know about them.
The Gobé-Li in these days give blood sacrifices to their false god Danoku whose name will probably change.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

Depends on the tribe.
I'll go with youngsters.

alFén: Depending on how old they are, they will either be watching different artists to determine which one they will ask to serve under (Art is huge in alFén culture as in the present they have a belief that beauty is the most valuable thing. There are "High" arts and "Low" arts. Depending on the parents the kids will be pushed to either choose the art that is the highest they can attempt or the one that brings them the most joy. The royal alFén are normally the former.) or apprenticing under their art master. This can be anything from painting to fighting to hunting to dancing etc.

Dweor: They will either be learning from their mothers about the world or if they are older they will be in training. The young men will do rather like the alFén and find which job they like best that they will do for the rest of their lives. (But without the social pressures.) The women will be taught to either be mothers or priestesses. (Both of which are highly honored as the Dweor are the only matriarchal tribe.

Gobé-Li: In the present it depends on sex. If they are female they are trained to take care of children and to have as many as possible for the war effort.
(Just gonna say that I am very pro large family. But this is the way the modern Gobé-Lin culture is.)
If they are male they are taken from a young age to learn the history of their people and to fight. A few females are allowed into this. But it is extremely rare.
The old Gobé-Li would have both sexes learn together about history of the world and stories of their tribe as well as ways to survive in the world as well as some diplomacy training.

The Menna are the most chaotic. The other tribes are more tribe oriented. For the Menna, who in the present live in small communities that form together as city states, it kind of depends. Small children play as they will. Older children are told to find a trade and helped to get it mostly through family connections to gain apprenticeships. Often older children are prepared for marriage. They marry earlier than the other tribes except for the Gobé-Li (both in the present and the past).

It's important to note that on average the alFén live a bit longer than the Menna and the Dweor live to about 150 at the oldest (the women being more likely to reach it). The Menna and Gobé-Li have lifespans that we would consider to be average. Some make it to 100 but that is very rare. More often they die at around 80.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

See if you can get a question from reading what's here. Or ask a more limited question. There is so much I took two hours to get around to telling a sister the name of the grandmother of one character.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

Hmm. Still a big one. I don't know who the very first leader was. Althalos is only a very small part of the world. Almost all the story is set there and so that's what I know most about. The world is viewed mostly from Althalos atm so that's what I can see. The rest of the world is called Kosmund Extrap which means the world outside.
I'll do some answering though.
The very first leaders were probably when the tribes first formed before the poisoning of the world by the Traprodis. Probably one was named Menna while there were a couple of Gobé and Li. Idk about Dweor. But the alFén were not lead by someone named that. alFén in an older version of their language means The Art. They are hella arrogant sometimes.
So it turns out I don't have the answer. But I can tell you they rule.
The alFén have a king, plain and simple. The king has advisers. These advisers are often the heads of their Houses of art.
The Dweor have their Mahz Mulm. Her word is law. The only way she can be overturned is if a vast majority of the priestesses disagree with her. Her husband is sometimes in charge of the military (which is never used).
The Menna work by way of sort of city states. Each village has a leader. Each few villages has a leader over all of them. Allies can be made or abandoned.
The Gobé-Li have a dictator. In the old days it was more of a leader by popularity based on their history, wisdom and age.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

I'ma plop some random necessary info.
The Althalosians used to live in Kosmund Extrap. They had to leave because the Menna tribe was doing the build an empire stuff and was super insensitive as most conquerors are. They built these giant boats (that to us aren't really that big) and sailed to Althalos.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

This dude named Zol is hella important. He was the first dude to have elemental powers. He served as a diplomat between the Menna and the other tribes. He also gathers himself some disciples who have powers too and teaches them how to use them. His first disciple does evil stuff and joins with a Traprodis which are super bad.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

Menna look just like us, varied skin tones but the majority are light skinned, though never pasty (also have no red hair). German to light olive but occasionally African skin tones. The only tribe with blue eyes, though they have all eye colors we do. The only tribe with seriously varied skin hues and blond hair.
Gobé Li (the accent is on the o, but I thought é would be the easiest way to communicate the sound at the end of Gobé) have silver grey brownish skin, thick, dark hair, thick eyelashes, grey and occasional vibrant green eyes, are very thin and pretty short. Their feet are a bit like monkey feet, short triangles with fingers, their hands have unusually long fingers and a lot of strength in their grip. They are shorter than us, standing at around five feet for an adult male.
The alFén look like us, but with skin tone that hangs around copper, reflective eyes like cats, and less of a height difference between men and women, as well as normally being tall, rarely having anyone under five ten. Their hair is black, dark brown, and red, a lot of the time the former colors are mixed with red, red being an incomplete dominant allele. Their eyes are brown, amber, or green.
The Dweor are shorter than the Gobé Li though the tall ones can get to their height, have vaguely Indian (and I mean Indian, not Native) facial features, thick, dark hair, and a skin tone that goes from light to medium tan. They are the strongest at 1 + 3/4 of the strength of a Menna as well as having great endurance.
