It depends. But loving someone is generally deeper, purer, and is essentially better in every conceivable way, shape, and form. Probably one of the most powerful emotions ever.

Whether it's romantic love or otherwise, I think it has to do with simple "like" being conditional and when you will still sacrifice the person's stuff for your own self interest sometimes. But true love is unconditional (no matter what the person does, you'll still love them) and it also means sacrificing yourself (be it your time or even your life) for the other person. But sacrificial love is especially communicated in the little things, and for some reason the little things seem harder to give away.

Note that this isn't the same as letting yourself be abused–of course not. In fact, letting the person you love get away with that is not loving in the least. You want the person you love to be the best version of themselves, but sometimes, they just won't change. So you should distance yourself from them, since loving someone can't give you full armor against their abuse… Me: "If you were to kill someone, I promise to visit you in jail." Not gonna help bury the body. :P

I think that if they get a haircut and it's ugly, it's a crush. If you love someone, it doesn't matter what they look like, you should want to be with them all the time (or at least I would).
