this is more creepy than disturbing, but not as many people know about this as it seems they should, so here y'all go

The Catacombs of Paris are underground tunnels in Paris, France, which hold the remains of more than six million people in a small part of a tunnel network built to consolidate Paris' ancient stone quarries. Extending south from the Barrière d'Enfer ("Gate of Hell") former city gate, this was created as part of the effort to eliminate the city's overflowing cemeteries. From 1786, nightly processions of covered wagons transferred remains from most of Paris' cemeteries to a mine shaft opened near the Rue de la Tombe-Issoire.

The tomb of the Val-de-Grâce hospital doorkeeper Philibert Aspairt, lost in the catacombs during 1793 and found 11 years later, is located in the catacombs on the spot where his body was found.

More recently, a man went missing after exploring the catacombs, leaving behind a camera containing the following footage:
