I believe humans should have more tolerance and integration of other cultures. The main thing I have a (maybe unnecessary) strong belief in is that countries should only have one name. I don't think each language should have a different name for each country. For example, the USA's official name is the United States of America, which in Spanish, it is referred to as the E.E.U.U. - Estados Unidos. I wish every language called us USA and we called Germany Deutschland and so on. This might promote more tolerance for other cultures if we use words from their language instead of renaming their own country.
Y'all agree? Disagree?
Yeah, one name sounds fine by me. And tolerance of other cultures is a must.
It all sounds good to me, but how come you believe so strongly in calling all countries by one name each? Is there any experience you've had that made you come to that conclusion? I guess I don't really see how tolerance is connected to that?
I agree with you guys. I think we need to have an open mind about other cultures. Stereotypes are causing people to judge other cultures and sometimes hate them.
@Masterkey
Of my family I’ve always been the one most interested in and tolerant of other cultures and ways of life. I want to be fluent in Spanish and I’ve always dreamed of traveling the world and experiencing other cultures. This was mainly born when I started taking Spanish and I got more connected to the culture. I think not only would it reduce confusion, but it would also promote more tolerance because we’d be using a word from a different language as part of our own instead of saying, “Forget what you call yourselves, we’re going to give you our own name.” That just seems wrong to me.
