I think its a good idea to keep your readers interested, your first chapter needs to be engaging you need to shock your audience into reading more

You know when you're taking a test and your like, I'm going to fail this, but then you take the test and your like, wait i know a lot more then i thought i did, and you don't completely fail the test.

Sounds kind of similar to something that happened in one of my stories.

Yeah, idk what the context is in what you're writing, but it's a cool concept, especially if the near-murder is central to the plot.
