As someone who enjoys watching anime with friends, I sometimes run into a situation like this:
After watching the show, I'll often have a discussion with my friend about it, asking them what they liked who was their favorite character. They might pronounce the name of said character with a japanese accent, regardless of whether or not the name originated from another language entirely. For example Elias (pronounced El-ee-ihs) from "The Ancient Magus' Bride", would be pronounced "Er-ee-is. Listen, I don't intend to be mean, but THAT FUCKING ANNOYS THE SHIT OUT OF ME. Why?! Just… WHY???? Why the hell would you go out of your way to pronounce it like that? It's like going to a convention and hearing a bunch of weebs saying "Nyaaaaaan!~" like it's the cutest shit ever. Well, sweetie, let me break it to you… IT'S NOT CUTE IT'S ANNOYING. STOP DOING THAT. PLEASE.
