I want to design a spaceship for something, but I have no idea how. So if you know stuff about spaceships, I would appreciate a nice long conversation about the fundamentals. Like, for instance – should a spaceship have a coffee machine? (Nah, I'm just kidding XD)

SO, the basic concept that I have for the ship is something like this:
A transport vessel, one that can travel through space and store rare materials in its hold, to be transported to a planet where they can be sold. Possibly with special containers that can adapt to the needs of specific items, like plants.
Big enough to hold at least a week's worth of these materials, plus whatever the crew member(s) need. I don't want it to be terribly huge, but if it has to be, then okay.
But there's only going to be one person piloting it at first, so it has to be something that can be handled by one man, but not really easy to pilot alone.

Some more questions.
Is the ship have an automatic pilot? Or is it completely manual? Cus you could probably let size slide just a little bit if the computer is piloting most of the time.
(More later. I gtg)

Lol. So depending on how much of a hard Sci-Fi story your story is, I think it could be a large ship. The Millennium Falcon is a fairly large ship for just two individuals. And it depends on how complicated the ships mechanisms are and how many there are. The Enterprise has a lot of things going on onboard, so it requires more crew.

I've got a couple of things like that too. Does your ship travel by Light-Speed?
Also, be sure to check out other spaceship designs and concepts in the genre too. I can pull up some images if you want.
