Don't tell me it depends on the person. Let's just say this person has never felt much physical pain in their life, and then they feel like they were lit on fire and their leg was ripped out of their body. Should she pass out?

@Celestial-B

Well really, it does depend on the person lol. It depends on their pain tolerance. Can they stand much pain and blood? Or do that hate even the mention of those things? Is the pain excruciating or does it just hurt?

I'd think that if she doesn't have much pain tolerance she would pass out.

I dunno, I've never really cared if I was in pain, and for a while, I assumed the same was true for others, but that was wrong. Now I've learned a lot on the subject seeing as how pain never really bothers me. But a person with low pain tolerance would probably pass out, and in the scenario mentioned, they might even die of shock.

@Masterkey

My sister has really high pain tolerance, and it gets so bad that she won't realize she's super sick until she has to go to the hospital and we find out she has strep A and B, pneumonia, AND a 104 degree fever all at the same time. Several doctors that weren't working with her asked to come in to check her out for "study" (apparently they had never seen it before, and they were amazed she was so chill XD). She survived and she's fine.

BUT, even though she technically has no problem with blood, whenever she gets her blood drawn or if she gets a shot, the sight of it will make her go light-headed and nauseous. She fainted and fell out of her chair one time, and another time she threw up.

Like everyone is saying… it depends on the person (sorry :P). But if your character has never gone through that much physical pain and then suddenly feels like they're on fire and their legs are getting ripped out, yeah, I think they might pass out.

Pain must be assessed with a multidimensional approach, as follows:
Chronicity.
Severity.
Quality.
Contributing/associated factors.
Location/distribution or etiology of pain, if identifiable.
Mechanism of injury, if applicable.
Barriers to pain assessment.

Case 1 - Pain from Endometriosis
“I’ve been in pain for the entire weekend; there was a heavy feeling in my side. I was in a lot of pain the other day and when I stood up, I was in so much more pain that I passed out for about ten minutes. I was just lying down on the floor for a couple of hours until my sister found me after wondering why I wasn’t replying. I have endometriosis. I was supposed to visit the doctor in five days but he rescheduled until after Thanksgiving then changed it again saying it’s on the second week of December!”

Case 2 - Severe, Sharp and Sudden Pain
“I had a severe headache with sharp pain and I passed out after what felt like forever. When I regained consciousness, I couldn’t speak and I had a really bad pain in the neck. I’ve been having a bad headache for the last two days. The doctor says I fainted because it was a “typical migraine”. Do other people also pass out? I’ve been doing it 4 times in the last couple weeks. My blood pressure and everything else came out normal, so the doctors say it is just “stress”.

@p3ncil

There's no blood… but I think she definitely will pass out, because she doesn't have much pain tolerance. Thanks!
