See now I just don't read the news, and since I know that people are going to be talking about it in the street I always put my earphones in (I literally mean always), and in college people don't really talk about it, but then again I wouldn't know since I always have my earphones in. The only time I don't have my earphones in is when I'm at home or at work. I literally don't hear anything about the news or anything unless I accidentally walk in on my parents watching the news (and even that is rare)
My issue with that approach is that I'd feel bad for being ignorant. I feel like a lot of bad things happen (in politics) because people don't care enough. And then the people who have harmful agendas can do their thing because the rest of us aren't stopping them you know?

That’s kind of how I feel too. I want to ignore it but I feel like I shouldn’t?
Yeah I understand where you are coming from, but I'm just a 17 year old girl, I can't do much
I feel ya
I mean I think Greta Thunberg is like… 16?? and she's on the news like every other day at this point
But we can't all be political activists
Don't forget she's a Nobel nominee
*admiration for her intensifies *
She's also on the spectrum I believe
I think some of my friends met her a while ago when they were at a demonstration that she had arranged at Medborgarplatsen… We had a school strike for climate a while ago, a lot of the students in my school went. My class had a competition at the university tho so we couldn’t go.
She was in Germany last year at some point, I believe - we definitely still have Fridays for Future demonstrations all the time in my town. I don't go because of work but they're quite loud
I think what she’s doing is great, but I feel like a bit of it is for the wrong reason. I don’t know if you know about it, but her parents are pretty famous here in Sweden, and I don’t really think that it’s a coincidence that they realeased a book just before all this started, and that she wrote a chapter in it. Even though it’s good what she’s doing, I feel like a part of it might just be to sell their book more, and I’m not the only one who believes that. Also one part of why her entire thing is so big is because of that her parents are famous and have contacts… but I guess it’s fine as long as it’s for a good cause.
Huh I didn't know that! That's really interesting!
Yeah, her mom is an opera singer and her dad is an actor
