HOLY SMOKES THAT'S SWEET
Is it bad my parents don't know about my anxiety and depression?
Naw mate I didn't let my parents know for months
I kinda wish I never did…
I mean like I try to tell them, but they don't take it seriously
ya they won't at first
So what should I do?
idk man you're askin the wrong dude
I'd say sit down with them, make sure they know you are serious. Maybe write down what you would like to say first so you know exactly how and what you will say.
Try search online or on YouTube videos for help. People have done this before so maybe it's good to see what to do and what not to do when talking to them.
Gradually bring it up to them time and time again, with intervals between them. Tell them about examples that happen throughout your day to prove you have it. My parents finally believed I had an anxiety disorder when I kept bringing up my anxiousness and then started breaking down during soccer practice and in school every other day from the stress and asked them to let me see a therapist. What didn't help is my parents have never seen me cry normally, they only saw me cry during attacks. They immediately noticed a difference in my crying when they saw me just cry normally; no shaking or hyperventilating.
So just keep bringing it up and making it clear that there is a problem, and you wanna do something about it; whether it be therapy or prescriptions or just working it out on your own.
I have to add though, that it also depends on the parents. Mine are fairly chill and laid back, and just thought I was a shy, socially awkward and introverted child without any problems. They support me and listen to me. I understand that parents like mine have become a sort of rarity, and that's pretty messed up honestly, but it's the truth.
