"AH, HUH?" James sounded like he was sneezing. He sat up.
"AH, HUH?" James sounded like he was sneezing. He sat up.
"James! The error alarm has been going off for God-knows how long!!"
James snaps into reality and looks at the error. "Crap. Uh, I can fix this." James checked the tablet.
ENGINE FAILURE, MOVEMENT WILL CEASE IN 24h7m32s
"Engine failure?!" James panicked. "We have twenty four hours to fix this, it's fine."
"What is causing the engine failure?" Alley asked.
"That's what we need to find out." James says, hoping the cameras on the outside of the ship weren't broken.
Alley nodded.
"I'm going to look around the ship and make sure nothing else is out of the normal."
"I can hold the engine together," Aza said, wiggling her fingers. "You know, until you can fix it."
Alley looked to Aza.
"Do it. I'm going to the weapons wall."
Aza sat down on the floor and squinted. Magnetic waves poured out from her, pulling the ship's engine together.
James flicked on the inner camera button to find that the ship's inner cameras were alright. "Yes!" He yelled and looked. "Mmm, I'm going to guess it's the boosters." James says, preparing a kit. "I'm going to have to go out there, but it seems to be an easy fix. I'm guessing it was caused when our… uninvited guest came aboard."
Alley nodded.
"Still, I'm going to the weapons room, just in case." Alley hurried away.
James watched her go. "Be careful!" He says, standing up to go to get the equipment.
Alley reached the weapons room. She quickly punched in the code, and grabbed several guns and grenades. She started carrying them back to the others.
James entered the room with suits and oxygen tanks. He took off his red sweatshirt and replaced his uniform with protective layer, and then the suit. He placed the oxygen tank on his back and connected it to his suit, so he could breathe. He returned to the control room and picked up the kit.
Alley saw James.
"Here," she said, handing him a gun.
"Just in case."
James nodded, accepting the weapon. "Thanks, but I don't know if it'll work in space." He said, half-joking half-serious.
"Theoretically, yes. Practically? They said aliens were a myth, so…" Alley shrugged, trying not to panic.
"Guys," Aza said through clenched teeth. She still sat on the floor. "It's getting difficult to control the magnetic fields, so you'd better hurry up."
Alley nodded.
"Good luck, James."
James nodded back, an excited, hopeful smile on his face. "We can do this. Don't worry, Aza, I'll be done in a few minutes." He said. James exited the chamber, and closed the door behind him. His smile instantly vanished.
I hope I can do this. He thought and opened the door to space. He tied himself down accordingly and stepped out.
Using a small jet-pack like contraption, he shot forward, towards the problem area. Holding his kit in one hand and the gun in his other hand, he stopped at the boosters. "Can anyone hear me? Over."
"Yeah, I can," Aza said tightly. "Hurry up." she said again.
"Loud and clear. Over."
Opening the box to the booster's engines, which didn't affect the main engine, it only used the main engine's power to go. James observed for a moment, rapidly scanning everything with his eyes. He almost missed the problem, but when he saw it, his brain faltered.
"Guys, it's another letter, but someone shoved it in the connection from the main engine to the boosters. Over."
Quickly snatching the letter, James furrowed his eyebrows. "But, our boosters have been working just fine… until the creature came aboard. So unless there's more, there's no way this could have happened. How did they even get a hold of this?" James muttered, not noticing his radio click off.
"James?" Aza pressed a few buttons on her radio. "James?"
The lights began to flicker, and James could see it from the outside of the ship. James closed the booster box, and grabbed his radio. "Hello? Aza? Alley? Guys, are you okay!? The power, is everything alright?"
Crap, if the power goes out I'm stranded. James realized. He began heading back, at full speed.
"Aza, everything is fixed, you don't have to strain anymore!" James yelled, hoping he would hear her.
The power went out, just as James hovered in front of the open gate. "NO, WAIT!" He yelled. If the power goes out, the ship is programmed to go on lockdown, to conserve energy. James watched the gate slowly begin lowering.
He tried kicking, as if he was swimming, but to no avail.
