(aw thanks! and @SwimwithGamers, Definitely ready!)
The ship you were aboard, the Maria, was one of the only ships that escaped Earth. Manned by four people, it is only three months away from reaching Mars.
Alley walked down the hall, checking her tablet to make sure the cargo was still secure.
James sat at the control desk, mainly just being nervous that something would go wrong. It always did in movies! He played with a loose thread from his sweatshirt and looked at the stars.
Aza was perched on the edge of her bunk, singing an eerie song and swaying back and forth.
(can we all have like walkie-talkies to make sure we're all okay and check in on each other?)
Satisfied, Alley headed to the control room.
(Yes!)
(yay!)
James clicked his walkie-talkie on. "So what's for lunch? Who's cooking this time? Over." He let go of the button.
Alley held her radio to her mouth.
"I think it's Aza's turn. Over."
"Okay, hows the cargo doin? Over." Alex said, watching the horizon.
"I'll go make mac'n'cheese," Aza interjected.
"Everything looks good, but I want to see the log in the control room. I thought I saw some things that weren't logged, but I can't be sure. Over." Alley was at the control room door now. With a deep breath, she steeled herself. She wasn't one for talking to people face to face, and she always did this before entering a room.
"Well, here it goes…" The control room door slid open with a soft click.
Mac'n'cheese, again?
Penny was reading a book, humming to herself as she listened into the conversation.
James smiled at Alley when she entered and spun around in his spinny chair. "So, what did you think was unlogged?"
Alley swallowed.
"I- I saw some crates that I didn't see identification on, and I- I wanted to see if they're logged or not." She quickly hurried over to the log panel, pulling up the list.
James felt Alley was a bit fragile, because of her nervousness. He disliked it when people were uncomfortable, but there didn't seem to be anything he could do. "So, Earth is really gone."
Aza came into the control room and magnetized her feet to the ceiling. She walked up there for a while, clearly enjoying herself.
Alley looked up.
"Yeah…" She was remembering everyone she had left behind. Her parents, her boyfriend, her friends… She was glad her sister had made it onto one of the other ships, the Wanderer.
Alley shook her head to clear her mind, turning to the screen again.
"Hey, Spider-girl, you're the cook today!" James said looking up.
Alley jumped. She hadn't noticed Aza walk in. She hurriedly went through the logs.
"That's strange…" She checked her tablet again to double check: it was true, there were unlogged cargo boxes on the ship.
James looked at the log. "Well that's not good. We should check those out again." James stood from his spinny chair. (did i forget to mention James is a tall guy? yes i did)
