Emmeline frowned at the word “kid”. Surely this girl wasn’t much older than herself, though Emmeline might look younger than she really was. She thought over the offer for a moment.
“I’ll join your quest, I suppose,” she relented, glancing at each of them in turn. “Lord knows I could use the money.”
"Cool, let's go." Tiergan said. His hands were clutching each other very tightly, and he glanced at his watch. "Let's go before the sun comes down."
“Someone’s in a hurry,” Emmeline commented, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. This should be interesting, and, though she had pretended it was only about the money, she was a bit excited to go on a real quest.
(I keep tryna find a good place to come in hahaha)
"Aye, I suppose it would be best to leave now," Zaire said, "We might run into assassins or something but that's the least of my worries."
She sighed, face turning red as she turned around, inhaling deeply.
"Anyone looking to join last-minute?" she asked, voice powerful and loud as she ducked her head in shame.
"Join what?" Jax asked curiously as he walked up to the group. He hadn't been on land too long, but he was intrigued by the idea of something exciting.
"A quest to retrieve some random crown," Zaire replied, looking Jax dead in the eyes. "The pay is good if that's any reason for you to join."
Zaire really didn't see a problem with spreading the pay between as many people as possible due to the fact that she wasn't the one who would be paying them.
Jax shook his head, smirking slightly. "Nah, I don't need any payment. I'll help, I'd like a little adventure before I go back home." He shrugged nonchalantly.
Mikazu glanced around at the group, once small, now significantly larger. She eyed the fae with her eyes squinted. She hadn't expected magicfolk to be in such a town as this, but alas, here one was, standing right in front of her.
"What's your name? I'm Mikazu." She held out a hand, the only thing not pinned to her sides in a closed off nature.
Emmeline looked at the girl her nose, which was a quite a feat considering the small size of her nose and her height. “Emmeline,” she responded, shaking the girl’s hand. “What made you join this quest?”
Zaire watched the exchange curiously-this was certainly an interesting group she'd gathered.
"At least people are getting along," she mumbled to herself.
Hanaka grinned. "I'm Hanaka! Welcome to the quest!"
"Let's go on the quest already," Tiergan said.
“Thank you,” Emmeline responded, smiling as she curled a lock of hair around her finger. This girl would be an interesting companion.
"Just… curiosity, I guess. You?" Mikazu attempted a smile.
Emmeline smiled back, though the look somehow seemed more intimidating than friendly despite her small stature. “Same, and money of course,” she responded.
"Of course." Mikazu giggled cautiously, darting her eyes to Zaire. She didn't know how friendly this Emmeline really was. "Are we ready to go?"
"I'm ready!" Hanaka couldn't stop smiling as she repositioned her bag on her shoulder. "This'll be fun!"
"Finally," Tiergan growled. He looked behind them. "Can we please get going?"
"Let's go," Zaire said, making it a point to bump into Tiergan on her way out the door.
She stopped for a second to look up at the darkening sky as the rest followed her out-it appeared the moon wouldn't be bright tonight.
"We're going to follow this trail for now, it's not bright enough to go off on our own path yet."
Mikazu nodded, following Zaire contently. She unsheathed a dagger from her side in preparation for what was to come. She almost snickered when Zaire made a point to bump into Tiergan. This adventure would certainly be… interesting. Mikazu only hoped that in a positive way.
"So…" Jax started awkwardly. "Is everyone here strangers or did you guys already have most of this group together?" He tried, attempting small talk.
“I’m certainly not familiar with anyone here,” Emmeline responded, with a glance in Jax’s direction. “Though I daresay I like what I see.” Despite her flirtatious manner, she still seemed a bit mischievous and fierce, as she probably had as long as she’d been there.
She wondered how many people in this group she could get away with flirting with. It would be a fun challenge for her while she tried not to roll her eyes at the others in the group.
Tiergan starts to clench his fists really tightly, to the point that his hands turn white. His face is a blank mask.
(bro they should be the type of friends who flirt back and forth… btw I'm ok with shipping Jax with anyone who wants to)
Jax smirked at Emmeline, glad he decided to join this little adventure. "Right back at you."
