"Yes. It is a dangerous job. But he was better than I was," Azriel muttered softly, lost in thought and staring at the floor.
"Yes. It is a dangerous job. But he was better than I was," Azriel muttered softly, lost in thought and staring at the floor.
The door opens again with a loud groan. Instead of a guard, two individuals are thrown into the cell where they stumble onto their knees. One is an elf, possibly from Magrif, with platinum blonde hair and silvery-blue eyes. The other is a Senkreinese human. She has bright green eyes that scan the prisoners before her. She wears dirty merchant's clothes in contrast to her companion who wears light leather armour. The elf lifts his head and, on noticing an Yrnan in the cell, he sneers. The human mutters something you can't quite catch and they shuffle back to the wall.
Arabella walked over and sat in the warmth of the wing smiling a thank you to Azriel.
Azriel gasped in terror as the new people were thrown in, trying to back up further before remembering that she was already pressed up against the wall.
Iris sneered right back, refusing to exchange any words although she knew his language. She automatically adjusted her position so that she was standing somewhat in between Azriel and the Magrifan, never removing eye contact from him. Her cold facade slipped right back on since the visitors arrived.
“hello there, I am Arabella. Welcome to the cell of uncomfortable conversation, freezing you butt off and boredom.” She spoke in Medein hoping that both strangers could understand her.
They glance at each other and cast distrustful glances around the room.
"You have been in here a long time, yes?" The human asks in Medein. The elf grumbles under his breath.
“A day. A long boring cold day.” Bella sighed as she sat cross legged on the ground.
"Yrnans are stupid," the elf comments in Magrifan. "They are ransacking their own kingdom. Taking foreigners and throwing them in dungeons. Don't know what that one is doing here." He gestures to Iris.
The human translates it into Medein, excluding the last part.
Replying in Magrifan, Iris sniffs, "Wow, thanks for noticing. I love my country." Her voice was filled with fake awe and praise, reverberating around the prison cell. "Ransacking their own kingdom, you say." She stored that information for later use.
The elf narrows his eyes but says nothing more. The human has also gone quiet, staring at the floor with unfocused eyes.
Azriel tried not to shake too badly. Not knowing what the 3 in the middle of the room are talking about was making her unusually nervous. They could be discussing murder, for all she knew.
Iris propped herself against the wall, crossing her arms over her chest. She wasn't going to break the silence first.
(Just as a note: 'NPCs' or the characters I'll be playing will be temporary characters for a period of time. They're there for information and worldbuilding purposes but not all of them are easy to get info out of. Thought it'd make things more interesting)
(Okay… so we have to try to get info out of them?)
(You can do whatever you want to them…which sounds worse than I meant it to be)
“So, why are you guys here?” Bella choose her words carefully and slowly. who were these people? She didn’t trust them and she decided to force them to talk. She didn’t want bad things happening to her and her- friends? Comrades? Prison buddies? Anyway, she didn’t want anything bad to happen. Putting her mind control into her Medien, she said, “Tell me who you are and why you are here. Don’t leave out any details. Tell me if you are planning to hurt anyone in this cell.”
The elf's eyes harden at the words. He appears more aggravated about the use of magic than affected by it. You can hear the soft hum of magic as he creates a barrier around the two, his eyes glowing softly. The human opens her mouth to speak but as the barrier forms, she seems to shake it off.
Arabella glares at the two with a hatred she had only felt for her father. She got up out of the comfort of Azriels wings and began to repeat what she had said earlier and stared the two straight down. She would get information if it was the last thing she did.
The human girl flinches and glances to her companion who is meeting Arabella's glare with defiance. Her eyes shift between the two but she lowers her gaze back to the floor.
Azriel wrapped her wing back around herself when Arabella left, sheltering herself from the newcomers. She had no idea what any of them were saying, so she tried to focus on individual sounds. Which didn't help in any way.
Arabella kept talking until her words turned into a yell of hatred. At last, she threw herself at the elf with a screech.
Azriel quickly stood up. "Arabella, stop," she pleaded in Brachish, hoping Arabella would somehow understand.
Arabella turned toward Azriel. The fire draining from her eyes. She swayed, the world seemed to be trembling beneath her feet. She barely made over to the wall before she collapse of exhaustion. Exhaustion that serves no purpose.
Azriel nearly tripped as she rushed over to Arabella. Without thinking, she enveloped her with both her arms and her wings. As soon as she realized what she had done, she froze, pulling away. Not everyone wants you to care for them, she scolded herself.
