Ahyin screeched at Azriel, they're coming. Hurry up! Ariel stretched her wings and shook out her hair. She wished she had a knife, it she knew she didn't need the physical weapon to fight. Ahyin commanded all of Azriel's attention, which was a welcome escape from the corners of her mind.
(By the way, Azriel still has her talons)
Glancing frantically between the Magrifan elf and the phoenix, Iris shook her head in disbelief. She needed her sword, and she'd conserve her power to get it. As for the others…
Bella had gone to the other side of the cell when Iris used her ice powers. When the ice had exploded, a shard had shot across the room and sliced her ankle, and another piece lodged itself in the flesh above her elbow. She cringed as the blood slowly trickled down her ankle and arm. Then the commotion happened and the Phoenix burst in. Azriel looked overjoyed! maybe if they could make a run for it now… Bella stood up and walked toward the door to see what the situation was. She slid her dagger out of the belt to be prepared and looked behind her.
(@Reblod where have you gone?)
(Lmao it's all good I'm honestly just really glad you're back cause we need someone to be the guards, and… yeah. So - welcome back!)
(Thanks. Lemme just wake up a bit and I'll get on it)
The guards draw closer. They make it to the cell and one thrusts their spear towards Ahyin. Others manage to push past the phoenix and point their weapons towards the inmates. Two leap at Azriel, clearly hoping to get rid of both the angel and the phoenix in one go. The others start towards Iris, Arabella and Clare. The Magrifan and Senkreinese prisoners huddle in a corner, one lacking the skills for combat and the other still chained. You think there may still be weapons in the hall from the previous guards.
(I won't narrate your own combat but the only rule would be, no one-shot kills and at least try to make it realistic. Your characters might not defeat their opponent and may need to run or get assistance. And don't forget you have a giant fire bird on your side.)
Azriel hissed as a spear cut her arm. Go on, she thought to Ahyin, who, bursting with flames, screeched and clawed at the enemy with her talons. As happy as Azriel was that Ahyin was fighting well, she had no weapons, and had to back up as the guards moved in.
Iris Glarore needed her sword - but her attention completely diverted as she saw two guards head toward Azriel. Cold fury fueled her rage as she watched one slice cleanly through the angel's arm. Iris was drowned in an overwhelming urge to protect her angel, who was backed into a corner, despite begrudgingly admitting that she was probably the safest one with a phoenix.
A quick run through: Arabella could control bodies, the Magrifans were completely helpless… and… and Iris was, too, until she got a weapon. She hissed to Arabella, "Can you make the guards turn on each other? Have someone cause a distraction?" The guards prowled their way over the cell like a pack of wolves. Light shone through the door, left slightly ajar. It was so close.
Azriel nodded with pride as Ahyin - had she killed the man, or was he simply unconscious? Either way. She dodged the spears that were thrust at her, narrowly avoiding a gruesome death. Ahyin, who was now freed up to fight again, flew over to one of the guards, slashing her talons at his eyes. Azriel cried out as the second guard grabbed her wing and twisted it, nearly breaking it again.
Even as the current guards are attacking, you here more guards approaching.
(@EllieGrace wanna make some guards hit each other?)
Arabella looked grim at being asked to control people but she began to tell the guards to turn against each other. “We are not your enemy, you are each other’s enemy’s.” She flowed all of her strength into her words as she slowly pulled out her dagger. She had never been happier for keeping it in a secret pouch. She kept talking to the guards hoping Iris's plan would work. She turned behind her to see what the others were doing, but in her moment of weakness a guard struck her stomach. As she her knees buckled, she fell to the ground. She kept her focus on one thing. Turning the guards.
As confusion buzzed in the air, Iris vaulted herself across the cell, snatching and shoving open the door. The light blinded her, and the elf wobbled dizzily for a few moments. Reeling against the sunlight, her form sheltered itself before an image of Azriel in the corner popped into her mind. Without hesitation, the Yrnan ran. Adrenaline pumped through her veins while she raced against the long row of cells, eyes scanning around for a weapon, a weapon. Thank the gods. Gasping in relief and feeling her pulse ring across her ears, the girl slumped over. Propped against the wall was a row of spears, swords, daggers. Her heart dropped at the thought of why they would need such things, before she quickly grabbed two daggers and a sword of similar build to her old one. Managing to hook the daggers at her waist, she turned around, flipping the lightweight sword and adjusting to it's composition. Her eyes lifted up to meet three guards. "Well, shit."
Ahyin had taken down another one of the guards, but the last one that had been cornering her was still going. As soon as she saw an opportunity, Azriel lifted a foot and crescent kicked him in the face, finally tired of him. Ahyin flew over the bodies, making sure they were all unconscious before flying back to Azriel, who looked around for a weapon. She quickly took a spear from one of the guards and headed to the doorway, looking down the hallway, where she saw Iris surrounded by guards. Of course, this had to happen now. She quietly ran behind one of them, using the air to lift her slightly off the ground, and used the back of her spear to slam into the back of his legs, making him fall to the ground. Her goal wasn't to kill anyone, after all.
Clare froze for a moment as the battle began but then quickly pulled her Bo staff out of the air, she began to attack, at first it was unclear why her blows were so effective a few hits and the guards were out. You would be baffled, if you didn't see the small blue sparks traveling along the staff emanating from Clare's hands , she took down the first two before the guards figured out her approach and began to avoid the staff at all costs. She moved to protect Arabella when she crumpled, to the floor, "Just keep doing your mind thing, I've got your back."
Unable to keep the grin off her face at the guard's expression, the Ice Princess snickered and sprinted into action. For good measure, she kicked the fallen guard hearing a potentially fatal crack. Good. Iris entered deep inside her body, letting her instincts and magic fly around her. Throwing a dagger at one of the guards, she leaped forward and began swinging. Blood splattered on the ground, but the elf never noticed, lost in a whirlwind of jabs, cuts, and swordplay. Her powers fell into step behind her, freezing his hand holding the sword, slowing the guards reactions enough for her to get some powerful gashes in. She was panting from the excursion, but continued fighting. She didn't go unscathed, either. Malnourished and weak from overusing her powers, the elf could feel her swings slowing, heavier arms coming up to defend herself. They were making a huge commotion, clanging rattling off the iron bars and walls.
Azriel froze in shock. She had never killed anyone, and never planned to, so the fact that Iris was so ready to kill shocked her. She quickly regained her thoughts, though, and used the spear to help in any way she could, tripping guards and knocking them unconscious, with the occasional kick to the jaw or the back of the head. Her wing hurt like hell, but she ignored it as she continued to fight. For a moment, she stopped to catch her breath, and felt a jagged pain in her side. She looked down to see her stomach bleeding. Oh, dear.
Clare addressed the Ice elf, "Ice queen, If you keep doing that you're going to over load, get closer to me." She quickly brought up her staff to block a blow from a guard and jabbed him in the stomach with it sending him flying with a high electricity shock. She spun her staff defensively in front of her and formed a flaming tiger. The beast charged off to aid the icy elf in battle. Clare lowered the electric charge in her staff, conserving her energy to maintain both spells, the trick was to charge up the staff slowly, the metal laced through it allowed it to hold a large amount of charge with out depleting her energy.
The thing about fighting beside people was the Iris had never really experienced it. She was not accustomed to progressively checking behind her back, making sure the warm presence remained warm. She didn't know why the coil in her stomach tightened every time she heard a body drop. Pure fear engulfed her, and she didn't understand.
The guard in front of her was good, she'd admit, but not quite good enough. With a final blow, he dropped to his knees and Iris snatched the weapon out of his hands. Now wielding two swords, a flaming tiger that Iris did not trust, and her stubborn self, Iris lifted her eyes to the next guard in challenge.
When Arabella could murmur her words no longer, she decided to defend herself as best she could, which was not her well, she weakly gripped her dagger and propped herself up on the wall. She didn’t realize how weak she really was, she swayed at her sudden movements and cursed herself for using her powers so much. She couldn’t be so weak, no she had to keep going. The daggers slipped out of her grip- no no no no - the world went dark as she slipped out of consciousness.
