Cicada opened the door to her quarters, “Come on in.”
Cicada opened the door to her quarters, “Come on in.”
Riseley saw the door to Cicada's room open and followed River and…a cat? toward it
“So?” She sat down and let Aquarius jump on her lap
Riseley peeked through the slit in the door as it closed
“I’m going to do it. Eventually.”
Riseley retreated into the corner, listening intently.
This sounds interesting.
They know they're not supposed to be here, but, really, aren't rules supposed to be broken?
“Does he know? Does he suspect anything?”
“No. He cried himself to sleep last night. I feel kind of bad. But he can’t ruin another raid, especially if there’s one in Jade or Ruby. We don’t have as solid of a reputation there.”
Riseley ran through their options.
Who could "he" be?
Brooke stepped out of her room and saw Riseley peeking through the crack of Cicada's door. She walked over and cleared her throat.
"Whacha doin'?" she asked.
Riseley hasted dropped the nearest object of clothing on the ground, in this case their half-buttoned trench coat
"Nothing," Riseley said smoothly, "I dropped my coat."
They knew Brooke probably saw what they were doing, but still acted like they were 100% not just eavesdropping in their captain's door
Brooke raised her eyebrows suspiciously. "Uh-huh… So, you were totally just standing there because you dropped your coat?"
"Yes." Riseley replied, as smoothly as before and picked up their coat, walking away.
She'll go away in time, they thought.
"You know," Brooke called after Riseley, "eavesdropping on your captain usually isn't taken lightly…"
Riseley briefly contemplated shoving her into the half-open door to get her in trouble from Cicada before walking off with a flourished bow
Brooke snorted and rolled her eyes before turning to face the door. She knocked, waiting for Cicada to answer. If she didn't want her to come in, that was fine.
Riseley kicked a stray can on the ground toward her general direction and stayed in the corner
Hearing the clanging of metal against the wooden floor, Brooke turned around. She saw the can and sighed in exasperation. A glance around the deck revealed Riseley's general shape in a corner, and Brooke rolled her eyes again.
Of course, it was them…
“No. He cried himself to sleep last night. I feel kind of bad. But he can’t ruin another raid, especially if there’s one in Jade or Ruby. We don’t have as solid of a reputation there.”
“Have you given him his duties for the day?” River asked letting Aquarius prowl around
Riseley saw Brooke look their way. They bowed again, sending another (hopefully empty) can in her direction.
Brooke picked up the can and tossed it back, bored.
Riseley let it hit the wall with a reverberating clang, "You need to improve on your aim," they said, smirking.
"Yeah, 'cause I was totally trying," Brooke sighed, sitting down so that she as leaning against the wall near the door.
"Of course you are," they said, "Now would you mind moving slightly out of the way so I can go?"
"Yes, I would mind. Thanks for asking," Brooke declared. She stayed where she was and crossed her arms over her chest.
