It's traditional to our general way of life. Like they're polite to each other, they keep their hands to themselves, have well-balanced diets…

I see why people are confused by your statement. You say traditional, but you don't really mean that. A traditional demon is a creature of 'evil', 'darkness', 'malcontent', not what you are describing.
It would be easier to say that your demons are traditional to your story line and mythology.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

Technically, if you guys want to get specific, traditional demons would be like Pazuzu, or Vishnu, or the spirits of War of the colored areas in Greek myths!

Whoa whoa whoa. Hold up I've got to step in here.

  1. Pazuzu, although called a demon in Mesopotamian actually protected humans from misfortune. It wasn't until the movie the Exorcist that the name/ creature had a negative connotation.
  2. Vishnu is one of the principal deities of Hinduism, and the Supreme Being or absolute truth in its Vaishnavism tradition….not a demon????

Aaand a smack of knowledge from our resident goddess.

Well it depends. In Jewish stories (not what they believe) demons can be helpful. Most of them aren't, but if you do them a favor they offer a reward.

(lol)
I can't help myself sometimes.

@Kinarymo

Demon talk huh? :0
I have a few myself actually :0 (Ik this chat is basically dead but i like the topic so…)

The demons in my story were created by the main antagonist in a special experiment program, as a way to get back at her arch-enemy, who had beaten her twice and sealed away her powers. She created a set of 24 demon possessed items which she then used to slowly exterminate the Morphidae specie. (a morphidae is the unevolved wingless form of an angel.)

The demons are actually made using a Morphidae soul and infusing it in an object, which in turn becomes capable of harming a Morphidae, since its basically the same energy - you can say its like fighting fire with fire.

Now, i should probably explain the soul. Think of a peach - the pulp is the external magic layer and the seed is the core. The external magic layer is the magic quantity a Morphidae accumulates as they grow up; it dictates how much power the creature has and it also acts as a protective shell for the core of the soul.
The core is basically the life essence and the genetic pack of a Morphidae - it holds everything that makes the creature what they are. If the core is destroyed, the creature is erased from existence.

Out of all 24 demons, only 8 are sentient, as they were created using the Morphidae's entire soul - these are the so-called "prototype demons", who are a tad bit tricky to use, since they have a free will. The rest were created through a slightly different method, that allowed the separation of the core from the external magic layer; the daemons created using this method are a puppet like, with no mind of their own.

The true appearance of a Morphidae is similar to that of an eastern dragon, with masks on their faces. They usually are white and gentle looking, with soft features.
A daemon's default appearance resembles that of a Morphidae, except it's black, fire-like, more twisted and corrupted. Daemons do not have their masks on, so their faces look slightly deformed, with various horns sprouting here and there, their mouths look like they had been torn open and their eyes are just glowing orbs.
If their owner wishes, they can take on human form, but they still stand out a bit, as they all wear the same skin tight sleeveless shirts and are a tad bit taller than the average human.

This one right here is my main Daemon, Rin. He is a sword daemon, the last one to be created before the experiment program was terminated. He was originally created without a core, but after meeting his current owner, he somehow mysteriously received life - it is believed he is a "defect", since he was created in a hurry and some mistakes were made during the process. He came out very OP, but there was always something about him that unsettled everyone, therefore he was hidden away, so that no one may ever get their hands on him and abuse his powers.

The one above is his human form, while this other one is his true/demonic form - he transforms into it whenever he is summoned from his sword.

now that is an awesome and unique idea. I really love it! Not to mention your art! Did you draw that yourself??

@Kinarymo

Thank u guys!
Also, yeah, all the art is mine @FaeEris
I have a few more sketches with other 2 daemons (they're both prototypes) that will show up at times - they're currently on paper, so the quality might not be as good, but i can post them if u wanna see :0

I just wanna draw like you. I love that anime style but I botch it every time I try DX

Yes! post em up!

@Kinarymo

This one is Hikari, an umbrella daemon

And this is her partner, Shiranui, a zither daemon

Both of them are part of the older generation of daemons (they're #2 and #3). They usually work together since their abilities complement each other. Shiranui's zither can cast a spell that puts the victim to sleep; Hikari's umbrella creates a swirling wind that sucks in their target - once inside, the victim cannot escape until the umbrella is opened once more (Rin is the only exception, as he was able to cut a hole through the fabric)
Their usual fight plan is first putting the victim to sleep with the zither's music and then capturing it with the umbrella

@Kinarymo

Thanks guys qwq
These 3 daemons are currently all i have, since i didnt find inspiration for the other 21 :'))
i should say 19, since 2 of them are not exactly items. One of them is a pair of eyes stolen from the current Morphidae prince and the other one is a mystery for everyone

That depends.

What type of 'demons' are they?

Are they actual beings from the plain of hell itself or are they just classified as such because they originally inhabited that plain.

Demonic spirits are widely believed to be the supernatural force of evil and death and are shown as such in many old paintings and writing.

Now if these demons are more like the ones from Demon slayer, Than they can be whatever the hell you want, but the hell plane in all reality would most likely look like the one from DOOM and the demons there behave as such.

@Williamnot group

Demons, also known as miscreations, are eldritch horrors that reside in the depths of the everchanging Hell. They range from fungus creatures to vaguely humanoid, to even plants, but all are capable of easily killing and likely consuming humans. Intelligence is theorized to be possible in demons, but has not yet been recorded. These creatures are extremely dangerous, and are not very well documented because of it.

I'm actually writing one demon in particular. In this world demons and angels are reflections of human ideology. This demon knows that and by nature hates humans. At the same time I think of how some people consider demons cool. I reflect what people think in the character itself.

@wordlesswriter

Honestly? I've never tried it. But I have like twenty ideas now(my brain is overwhelming). Anyway, it depends on if they're supposed to be good or bad. Maybe neutral? Some ideas off the top of my head would be a demon trying to change their demonic past or instincts. Or a demon scared of themself. Or maybe a crazed or beautiful demon.

Keaira

I write demons as like really hateful humans. They reflect on what we fear and hate most and I try and show that.
