"How can we help, then?"
"How can we help, then?"
"Get your ass over here you little brat!" She hissed under her breath, disregarding the rumble and stumbling through the trees. "Oh, I really wish Roshida was here." She paused, unsure where the group went.
"Just..try to knock her out or somethin'. Too many things have died today, and I just wanna sleep."
"Then you can stop running, if you wish," Stardew said calmly. "Put your back to the wall somewhere, and we'll protect you. Does she have any weaknesses that you know of? I'd rather have something confirmed than throw magic and weaponry at her – damn it, I left Toby – and have to evade death."
The beast slowly started to move forward again. Whatever it was carrying, remained tightly against its body. The strange thing started to move along, it would prefer keeping out of danger, but if something would present itself as a threat, the beast would not be afraid to do what needed to be done.
It wasn't long before it's four eyes gazed downwards towards a few of the ones who had been running. It tilted its huge head in a curious fashion as it looked at them. It was an awkward silence as it watched, it clearly in view of those before it.
The white snake slithered silently towards the group, then sent a mental pulse to its master. Aurae sighed and followed the snake's directions, muttering elven profanities all the way. She looked up at the beast, flipped it off, and continued her angry march.
He suddenly put a finger to his lip, pointing to a particularly thick patch of shrubs. Where the hell are Tessie and Cin when you need them???
Aurae deftly climbed up a tree, hidden from the group's view but had a perfect view of them. She pulled out one of her pistols, but didn't click off the safety just yet.
(Are we still running or did Runner stop?)
(I guess you stopped, I dunno)
(Yeah, we stopped, imao)
The creature blinked its multiple eyes, confused. It didn't understand what the gesture was at all. Instead, the beast seemed to make a snort. However, it did slowly follow the female from a distance. The creature simply was confused, as well as curious. That and perhaps there was a possibility for a meal…never know…
(Cool)
Trouble switched to Runner's left and Stardew stood in front of Runner. She sheathed her sword and brought out a pistol, and glanced upward, half-turning as she scanned the trees for signs of life. The others watched the half-sphere of shadow closest to them.
He stood there, his hand on his hips while he attempted to catch his breath.
Aurae took note of the creature following her. She looked into one of the creatures eyes and said under her breath, "You do not want to blow my cover. You will pretend you don't see me, because I am hidden from the world" (she can compel people and most things to do as she suggests, and she can make them believe her lies)
"Sure you don't want that teajak?" Stardew asked, still scanning the trees. "It's the safest method I know of easing exhaustion."
(most of the time)
"Yeah…..I need it…." He rubbed the beats of sweat from his forehead, groaning again.
The beast's head tilted to the side again. It understood the words, but it didn't seem to understand the meaning. Despite the brutish appearance, the creature was in fact highly intelligent. A rumble seemed to emit from it, though that rumble actually soon turned into a deep voice.
"Tree cover?"
Intelligent it may be, but it could not speak very good English it seemed.
Without looking back, she took the small wrapped-up package of teajak from her coat and tossed it over to him. "Remember, chew it and swallow the juice, not the actual teajak itself. Spit it out if you think there'll be trouble of the kind that will cause you to swallow it."
(If he eats it, he should feel kind of cold, but very alert. His exhaustion will lift away for as long as the juice is in his system)
Aurae rubbed at her temples and took a different approach. She sent out a wave of magic, enveloping the creature with the vague feeling of leaving the female alone for right now. Crossing her fingers, she hoped it worked.
Stardew glanced briefly toward the direction of the voice, but didn't raise her pistol, preferring to keep alert on all fronts. Foxglove alternates glancing up at the spot and focusing on his half-sphere of shadow.
He follows the instructions, sighing as the cold went down his throat. He spat out the rest of the teajack then said, "You guys should go. She's after me, not you, and there's no sense in getting hurt for a stranger."
The Alnaschari all laugh. "Are you kidding? We were literally bred for this type of situation. This is why we exist, high stakes and the possibility of dying. We live to acquire fame, and besides, you're not in any kind of shape to fight properly."
"Besides," Trouble adds, "we don't die easily."
