Negative: Being not cared for after her Dad and Mom went on a trip and never came back.

One of my characters suffers from wild visions of the past and future; one of these visions concerns the death of his best friend. Usually, when he receives a vision it'll offer more than one possible scenario, except for when it comes to major events that are typically inexorable. His best friend's death is seemingly inexorable. Obviously, he wants to try and prevent it from happening regardless, and he really did intend on telling his friend about it… the problem is, in the vision, he's the one who kills his friend.
Sooooo, he's in desperate need of therapy…lots of it…
Flippers blames herself for everything. Her mom and dad stayed together (even though they had a terrible relationship) because they were both really poor and couldn't afford to live away from each other. One day, her father snapped and killed her mother, while Flippers watched. He blamed his daughter for doing this. Flippers runs away, and lives on the streets. She develops IED and some serious anxiety.
WHY WOULD YOU PUT HER THROUGH THAT THAT SUCKS!? XD

Dang bro. That must suck for them.
I had my pregnant character get hit by a car and them and their partner thought they had lost their babies after struggling to conceive and had to resort to using an expensive medicine to help give them another chance. They eventually realized they only lost one of the three and had their happy end…. for a while anyways….
Azami lost her mother(never knew her father), she died in childbirth and was locked away by her aunt a few years later, where she was blamed time and time again for her mother's death. When she was four, she was rescued by a pirate crew, and just in time, because her entire island was ravaged by a hurricane, and nobody survived. Then, she left her crew when she was 9, after meeting her brother(technically half-brother, but they call each other brother and sister). She met two more(not biological) brothers, but one supposedly died about a year later.
Fast forward 10 years, she's 19, she loses her other non-biological brother, and is convinced that it's her fault.
2 years later, she reunites with her other non-biological brother, the one who supposedly died when she was 9.
yaaaaayyyy
Harli was mauled by the beasts from the forest as the only person whose ever cared about him dies. He almost died himself. When he got back from the forest with the herbs, Eddith had already died.
And a week or so later the bombings started. his town was destroyed along with everyone in it. leaving him alone with only the ground and sky to keep him company. The only reason he didn't die too was that the night he was mauled a giant looming creature came to his aid, now making him almost impossible to kill. He'd rather have died with the rest of them
I'm planning on killing an important main character, Lane, the hacker of the group. They're going to find an obstacle that they can't hack, because they know it takes a human life to kill before it lets the others pass through. They're going to leave this little AI they spent years working on with the group and simply say "Don't let them forget me, okay? I don't want to fade into the background or just be the hacker of the slums, let the world know my name. I love you guys, and I'm sorry." before they blow themselves up/whatever the trap I have planned does. What makes it worse is that the little AI, called S.P.I.R.I.T has Lane's voice and ends up playing a recording of them all happy before it cuts to a video of Lane saying another goodbye, to their mother. They never expected to live past the trip.
I mean, later they do have their spirit pushed into the S.P.I.R.I.T AI, but it's a painfull proccess and they can't say who they are for a while.
(cracking noises Can you hear that? That’s the sound of my heart SHATTERING!)
(Good.)
Aight so
It's Jax's turn
She grew up as a doctor, but her home country was in the middle of a civil war. The war just kept going and going, and eventually, her brother was killed in the fighting. The World Government soon got annoyed with this war, seeing as her country was powerful, and this war could cause other countries to revolt, as well. So what was their solution? Create a fake disease, take people away to 'cure' it, then kill them. Eventually, when Jax was only five, they took her parents, leaving only her sister. Two years later, she died from an injury, and seven-year-old Jax was on her own. She lived in the basement of the hospital where her family worked, barely managing to scavenge for food.
TL;DR: Jax's brother died in a civil war, parents are victims of an attempted genocide, sister died, she lived alone under a hospital for two years, gained medical knowledge along the way
Don't worry, though
She gets rescued when she's nine
Miji has to deal with being the only surviving member from a crew of 12. He was the younger sibling to the whole group. And he was their doctor, which means he watched a lot of their heartbeats stop on his monitors and had to examine every dead body
(Miji I'm so sorry)
Amira Dixon is a Mage who was abandoned before she knew how to speak. At first, she felt bad for them, thinking they couldn't afford to take care of a daughter, but when she was three she found a Mage street called Manger Avenue, where she met Rodney Neamore, a nineteen-year-old who told her that her parents were apart of a cold-blooded group that served an evil man. A year later she found her one-year-old sister, Roxanne, who too was abandoned by the same parents, and she was finally able to find family she could trust. However, two years after meeting, Roxanne died of SARS (2004). This broke her so much that she ran away from everything she'd built when she was eight years old and changed her appearance, then her name to Lilli Markley. She also locked the personality of "Amira" in the back of her mind and created a new one, and throughout the books she acts as Lilli instead of who she truly is, so much so that she forgets who Amira is.
Alga's older sister Hira tried to kill them both when she was thirteen. Her parents blamed her for some reason and she moved out at 16.
Tavi had to flee his home country at 16 because his father was a serial killer. He didn't know why until years later but he knew they were on the run. Alternatively it could be watching his boyfriend being swallowed up by a vengeful nature spirit.
Life.
Ahem, ahem…I would elaborate, but it's too long and I don't want to bore people ;-;
no no, please go on. I'm interested.
oh my freaking god
the poor baby
they've gone through a lot

now i just want to kill the co-boss
Trigger Warning: Everything
And this is all just in the first book
Your character too…T.T
I really hope he does get his happy ending…that's a lot of emotional trauma
It is a lot. And every time I write something sad or bad happening to them, a piece of my heart breaks. But, yeah, he will have his happy ending. It will take a while for him to get it, but he'll have it.
Oof where to start…probably poor Jordan. He's a Shard, which is someone who is born with a superpower. He was the first Shard ever discovered, his father, a scientist, kidnapped him when he was 6 and took him to a facility where they studied him for over 11 years.
When he was 10, they put him through a long series of traumatic experiences, including watching them kill his friends and his own mother, in hopes that they would unlock a new power within him.
When he was 18, he was broken out of the facility, found out who his father was and what he had done, and then unlocked the new power from before.
He was shot and was dead for 30 seconds, was taken back to the facility, and was studied for six more months before breaking out again, causing a nation-wide manhunt for him. He met a boy and fell in love with him only to watch him die in front of him.
And also killed over 10 people with his bare hands.
So yeah. Poor Jordan Sanchez (and RIP Rome, he was a good character, I'm sorry I killed him off)
My character Mark has been through quite a bit in life. His died while he was still an infant, though his mother doesn't like to talk about how he died. As a result, he grew up around mostly females, causing him to be a bit more feminine than most guys, which he was teased for a lot as a kid. He was caught kissing another guy by some classmates when he was fourteen, resulting in merciless bullying. He and his sister moved high schools to escape these people, and it somewhat worked. However, his new life was ruined when a man approached him at a party and kidnapped him.
Allison, his sister, appears to have things better than him to most people, but she has her own struggles. Her mother left her and her father when she was a baby. This resulted in her father having abandonment issues, making him a bit overprotective of Allison. She moved from Oregon to Georgia when she was six, which was like a totally different world to her. When she eventually discovered that she is a lesbian, it went well with her family, but not with some of the people she thought of as friends. When Mark was kidnapped, Allison found herself determined to find him, sometimes sacrificing her own health for that goal.
Well throughout my characters life the people he cared about most died. When hes in his 30s he gets a vision from The Earth. She tells him how he did good and he is very confused at first. Everything he did, every accomplishment, every happy moment, every time he smiled was controlled by her. His life was a pawn in her game. She favored him above all other humans and let him win battles that should have been impossible, but she did it because he was important in his master plan. Now it was over, he was no longer special and he would become a whisper among the grand scheme of time. His life was a lie.
Horrifying sand creatures wiped out the rest of Naomi's unit and made her watch.
