Yes, the conflicting traits and strengths are purposeful. He's very confused, and goes through bouts of deeply caring about others to outright attacking them. He also masks weaknesses with strengths, (i.e. forcing himself to be confident to hide fear) manifesting new and dangerous traits.
Being a people pleaser, he wants confirmation that he's doing well, but is way too defensive to actually admit that. He does stupid little things to show people that he cares (talking to them, bringing them their favourite drinks) but she's away when he's accused of it. As for the abusive trait, that I should fix. He's not an abuser by nature, but has tendencies to las out when afraid or threatened. He is extremely blunt and will tell how it is, often trying to drag people down to his own level so he doesn't seem so low. Caring himself with arrogant gives him the air that he's sure of himself, it almost acts like a defense mechanism against possible criticism or judgement.
He was raised by a strickly Christian family, when to a Christian school with homophobic beliefs.
Ah, the group he's apart of is the Kool Kids Klub™. It's just basically a group of my younger characters who fuck around and get themselves into heaps of trouble, and being one of Kuroko's (the "leader" of sorts) closes friends, he plays a huge role in the decision making.
