In what way did your main character die? or how do you plan them to die, mine went as a soldier in War.

My main character ends up getting killed by a piece of shrapnel to the heart.

Possibly killed by someone for the bounty on his head and the reputation his death would bring to a person. Still not completely decided on that one, yet.

One of my fav background characters gets so annoying to the government, they nuke his trailer

Kane Gill dies a total of around 2 times. Technically once if you don’t consider the second one to be ‘death.’

The first time he was shot, then stabbed. And bled out.

The second time, when he was momentarily revived, he ‘died’ from stress overloading his system, almost immediately after ‘revival’ (if you consider robots to be alive.)

The third time..hasn’t happened. Yet.

My girl Aya is stabbed by her fiance who she is still hopelessly in love with.

By her twin sister (who was her one of her closest friend) probably by a heeled shoe to the heart or something. Not entirely sure yet what will kill her

By an explosion in a villain's base.
By her own sword.

By touching something she has been explicitly told is supposed to kill people.

• MC 1 - falls to her death after saving the world
• MC 2 - gets shot during a world leader's meeting
• MC 3 - isn't as lucky. she's forced to live forever and watch those closest to her fall, one by one.

All hypothetical for my D&D characters

Emmazin Brylander: Over-extending his level 1 self magically and having all his blood-vessels explode trying to fight an entire terrorist establishment single handed.

Treetown: Getting his piercing's ripped out one by one as he runs through thick undergrowth.

Ruu: Trying to come to a peaceful compromise with a bunch of 3 INT Gnolls

Marlin: Hitting a level 20 Warlock with his shovel

Tanzel Jaffe: "I would like to rage." has a -1 on all constitution rolls

Sicora Maghotta: Being found out as his lawful evil self, currently faking being like chaotic neutral or smth. Becoming his own party's BBEG basically.

Garrua: Loosing Hallow, and thus being unable to rage. This guy can't rage without his bard friend playing them sick tunes.

Apoge: Is a Gnome. Is also a barbarian. His nemesis is a Goliath barbarian. 'Nuff said.

Not all main characters, but here's some of my character deaths-

Ella Kamira: While trying to escape wrongful imprisonment and go home, she gets hit by a train because she's blind.

Venus: Shot by herself because she doesn't want to change who she is and become a slave.

All my current Warriors character deaths-

SilverStar: Her heart is ripped out by scourge, who BloodClan somehow brought back to life with dark magic.

MountainDew: Luckily for her, old age.

MistDream: Killed by DawnStorm (One of my Warriors OCs) after proving herself to be evil.

LavenderWish: Like MountainDew, dies of old age.

Dorito: Also a part of the old age group.

DawnStorm: I haven't quite planned her death yet. Probably will die fighting for her clan.

BatWing: Poisoned by the medicine cat, who thought she was evil.

AmberHeart: Also another one I haven't planned yet. Will probably be killed by demons.

CloudWing: Is killed by BatWing even though she (CloudWing) started the fight.

So I made some major updates to my story and as it happens, all the main characters die. So, with that said, here is the list of them, and how they die.
Tolkalee, the first to die of the group: Shot in the neck, survives for a little while before being shot in the head and heart.
Seth, who dies just seconds after Tolkalee: Shot twice point blank in the heart.
Seara, a few minutes after Seth and Tolk: During a fight with a dragon takes it and herself over a cliff. Both die on impact with the round.
Ovan, nearly the same time as Seara: Succumbs to numerous injuries that would by themselves be fatal, and he fights for several minutes before succumbing.
Don, Falle, Cammie and Tallon, a day after the first four: Shot to death.
Paltina, and Farven, a few hours after the second group: Die in explosion.
Adderson, a day later: Suffocated in space.
Quieren, Lachlan, Troy, three hours after Adderson's death: Electrocuted and then crushed to death.
Chail, a full year after everyone else: Sacrifices herself to fight an army, that the entire group died to, by herself, that three other characters would be able to put an end to a threat to the rest of the universe. Is last seen fighting with everything in her, and is never seen again.
Gelion, the last and probably most tragic of this list of tragics: Blows himself up along with the entire ship to ensure that nothing like what had happened would ever be able to happen again.

And there you go. My list of people who all died trying to accomplish the exact same thing. Save the universe, that doesn't know these characters exist, from a threat, no one knows exists. You're welcome.

I forgot this thread existed until I got the notification. I have more characters who die now. Here are two from a story type thing I am working on:

Ben- Shot by his girlfriend (Died at age 16, is not a main character)

Gamma- Neck snapped by a scientist (Died at age 7, not even in the story and is just mentioned)

I have a "genocide run" version of my story where pretty much all of my protagonists die so I'll share their deaths from that version.

Simon: neck snapped by their brainwashed ex-boyfriend after watching Henry kill Dean over and over again on a monitor
CJ: sacrificed themself for a random civilian because they didn't want to watch anyone else die
Logan: killed himself after being recaptured and tortured by Madeline
Dean: brainwashed by Madeline to kill Henry before Henry killed him in self-defense
Henry: hunted down and killed by James to prove his loyalty to Madeline OR (I haven't decided yet) drove Dean's car off of a cliff from the guilt of killing Dean

So, these aren't mains, but

Austin: Succumbs to fatal injuries after an attempted hit sent by his daughter's team's enemy. Spends his last moments with his (also injured but not fatally) wife by his side
Rudolph: Is the boyfriend of a member of said team. Gets assassinated by another hitman sent by the team's enemy, and it's all recorded on camera to rub salt on his girlfriend's wound

I know!!!! It's even worse when you read the little snippet I wrote of Chail after all of her friends are killed. I'm a jerk!

One word: E x p l o s i o n s

Okay, no. I'm just being dramatic. I mean, some of my characters do die in explosions, but one of my personal favorite character deaths is when one of my protagonists sacrifices his life to save his adoptive son and his friends. He has super OP powers, but he can't control them worth diddly squat, and in the past accidentally killed the woman he loved and his little brother… so, in order to prevent that from happening again, he got a device implanted in him that prevents him from being able to ever use his powers. But, in an epic climactic battle, his adopted son and several friends are about to be brutally tortured and murdered by some psychopathic baddies, and the Self-Sacrificing Protag in question decides to rip out the implant in his body and use his powers, one last time, to obliterate the antagonists and save his son and the others. Unfortunately, ripping the implant from his body results in certain death; he bleeds out before anyone can get him to a hospital. Perhaps one of the saddest parts is that his adoptive son, despite being an adult, has had a sucky life and is incredibly dependent on the protagonist who dies, so the guy essentially loses his mind after being scarred from watching the only person who ever actually cared about him die so horrifically.

One of my MCs dies from falling down a well, it's a primordial entrance to Oblivion.. but it's still a well.
Another MC's mom died from being butchered and her body was left in a freezer in the house the MC is trapped in.
A different MC's whole town was killed in a bombing, the only reason he didn't die is because he was being mauled by monsters in the forest a ways off from town. He still heard and felt the explosions.

I have characters that die from exsanguination (fancy way of saying they bled to death), burnt, in a motorcycle accident, poisoned, stabbed…. I myself almost died by choking on Life Savor candy.

Peter: stabbed at his best friend's wedding
Jordan: literally let himself die from smoke inhalation after he blew up a city
Rome: "Nobely" sacrificed himself to help the others get away

Breeze was killed by her sister while protecting her daughter. To be fair to Clara, she was under the control of someone else, and she didn't mean to kill Breeze.

Ebony dies in battle during the Shadow War.

Lux gets ripped apart by his own "army"

Thaddeus: Get's annihilated by the King's Wrath. He managed to hold off the God as his children companions got away
Sparrow: She gets turned into the Earth. She was dying and was barely hanging on by a thread and instead of dying, the gods granted her immortality.
Bane: Dies peacefully in their bed next to Fennec
Rune: Dies in combat, her abdomen completely mauled by monstrous creatures commanded by a bounty hunter.
Fennec: Peacefully leaves the world in a hospital bed in the arms of his two daughters
Kora: Dies of old age. She died on her throne with her daughter sitting next to her.
Atticus: Again, lives to old age and dies from a stroke. Died next to Alexi.
Alexi: The last of the gang to die. She realized that she didn't want to rely on doctors and medicine anymore, and she told them to stop giving her medicine. She was tired of being alone and wanted to see her friends again.
Sapphire: Her throat was slit by her daughter, Kora
Bax: Crushed by a chandelier
Mattias: Spent all of his energy using his psychic powers trying to find the location of the Twelve Talismans. He found them, but died from exhaustion shortly after.
