So since you guys like vibe checks so much I thought I'd bring this game from another forum that I'm on to here. Basically how it works is post a snippet of dialogue from one character and the next person has to basically guess what that character is like/ how they might act in a certain situation based on the dialogue.
I'm not going to put a limit on how long/short each snippet should be, but I kinda feel like less is more with these kinds of games so if you're character is going off on some long monologue maybe don't post the entire thing? I'm also going to ask that you don't post the name of the character speaking (only because I feel like it could be kind of cheating if someone else is familiar with your characters). You can include your character's pronouns if you want.
Same rules apply for most vibe check games: Put effort into your response. I think at least 2-3 sentences is pretty fair. Don't post dialogue without first assessing someone else's.
Here's the first one: (he/him)
“You did not,” [Character] responded, “You only think you did. You’re far too soft to be dealing with this. Just let me say my piece, and then I’ll leave.”
I think your character is one who believes in good and sides with your protagonist but is harsh and brutally honest. Not necessarily pessimistic, just the one to keep idealistic dreams in check. He thinks he's helping, even when he's not. Maybe sometimes he gets snappy when people are dreaming too big for his liking. I feel like he would be one of the ones in the final standoff against the villain. Probably the strategetic person.
"I want chaos and I will have it, " [Character] said as he turned. "I always get what I want." [He/him]
I think your character is definitely mischievous. And, seemingly, somewhat self-confident too? I wouldn't label it as narcissism, but the confidence is definitely there. He probably holds play over work, if not always then in most situations. Other than that, I have nothing XD
"Just take it and go," [Character] replied, tones mismatching. "Don't push more buttons than you already have. I don't wanna see you get hurt- And, frankly, I don't wanna be the one to have to revive you either." [Xe/xey]
Xe is most likely very close with xer friends/family and if you screw with them, xe will screw with you. But xe also seems like the kind of person who's not great with confrontation, looking at xer mismatched tones while xe speaks, so xe're an odd one, but I would definitely want to be xer friend.
(hopefully all of those pronouns are correct!)
(also apologies for the cursing)
[Character] looked at him and shook their head. “You saw Peter. He’s not our Peter anymore. And this is me saying this. He was awful but she’s warped him into something so much worse. And Logan…she won’t let him leave her again without hurting someone else. We would probably hurt him more if we tried to get him out again. Which makes me feel so fucking helpless…” [He/They]
Hmmm….I feel like he's someone who's farther along the hero path than his counterparts, maybe the oldest of the group. They were initially very eager and down to help anyone, but then a series of bad things happened that embittered them to the world. He's still a hero, just…more jaded now, and he's not comfortable with feeling jaded. When they were younger, they may have gone after Peter, but not now. He may have tried to go after a captured or traitorous friend before and gotten hurt in the process.
"I'm not a con man, I'm a con artist. It's an art form. Y'know, acting." (he/him)
I get a bit of a Tony Stark vibe from this dude. Like, the whole "I have no idea what I'm doing but you can't stop me" feel with a hint of overconfidence. I also feel like he'd be prone to sarcasm and banter. I'm guessing at least one of the other characters he hangs around finds him annoying and they have that whole "you're the bane of my existance but also my best friend" thing going on.
(Character) turned to see her team helping each other up, being gentle to one another in a way they had never done before. She raced up to meet them. "We did it," she panted, "We won!" The team was silent for a moment. (Character) was the first to move enveloping her father-figure in a hug. "We made a difference. Together." she whispered. "Maybe we're not perfect but… what family is?" (she/her)
(Dude you nailed it!!)
(Hell yeah!! I like him :D)
I may be completely wrong, but I feel that this is the sort of character who spent a very long time trying to find her place in the world, and is just beginning to feel that she belongs where she is. She is probably not the sort to be the center of attention, but likes to observe from afar, absorbing every possible detail. I would also guess that she either often yearns for affection but scarcely ever receives it, or is very reserved and learning to open up.
“We cut down every tree in the woods!” (Character) cried as she spun to face the onlooking crowd. “Merry Christmas to everybody!”
(She/Her)
I’m sorry it’s so odd.

bro you nailed it! they're the team leader, not necessarily the oldest, but they feel responsible for everything bad that happens. this is from my "genocide" timeline where everything goes wrong because i like making my characters suffer, so they've been through a lot in the past few months of where their story is taking place.

You actually got it pretty spot on! She's always been an outcast because her powers are connected to her emotions and she's accidentally hurt people because of this. She only now feels like she belongs because she's on a team of similarly enhanced people who are helping her learn to control her abilities. She does prefer to observe from afar, but her abilities often draw unwanted attention. She's also pretty withdrawn and she's just starting to trust her teammates. :D

I'm guessing she's on the younger side, and if she's not, then she acts young for her age. I'm definitely picturing her spinning around when she says that, wearing big fuzzy boots and a bright pink Santa hat and giggling. Doesn't stand still and is constantly bouncing up and down on her heels. Impatient, fun-loving, very eager to make everyone as happy as she is. Easily distracted, and often throws herself into whatever she's doing.
"El," [character] gasped, her nails digging into Eliot's arm as she looked up at him, eyes wide with terror. "El, I can't stop it. I can–I can hear them, I don't want to hear them…"
She trailed off, a shiver coursing through her. "Please," she begged. "Please help me. Please make it stop."
(She/her)
She seems to be one who is quick to fear. I didn't get much else for vibes-
"Please, don't go," [Character] called out to the other. "You have no idea what they'll do to you. To me. TO everyone. Please… don't take us with you on your path towards a death wish."

That's pretty close tbh. He's definitely someone who believes in the right things but doesn't always go about in a good way. I wouldn't say he likes to keep idealists in check, but he's definitely someone who likes to be in charge which is kind of what was happening in this scene. He's definitely pretty strategic, and you're totally right about him going up against the villain.
”Please, don't go," [Character] called out to the other. "You have no idea what they'll do to you. To me. TO everyone. Please… don't take us with you on your path towards a death wish."
Aww, that’s really sweet. I take this character as someone with a big heart, who cares about their friends maybe a little more than they do themselves (though they seem to be relatively healthy mentally!) but is maybe a little self-conscious about speaking up, as they don’t want to offend anyone. They’re a bit afraid of tough love, but in any case they’re incredibly selfless (at their own expense) and would gladly jump in front of a train (or dragon, or raging beast, whatever’s present in your world) if it meant someone else, even a total stranger, would live.
Anyway, here’s mine: (she/her)
She blinked, contemplating [other char]’s words. “He’s… not exactly a leopard, but… actually, that’s a fair point. I just wouldn’t want [another char] to get hurt.” Her gaze slipped down and away. “And if he’s won someone over, I don’t want them to be hurt, either, it’s not their fault that they’ve fallen into his trap.”

This seems like a character who cares a lot about other people, and is probably very sweet and sensitive. She hates seeing people getting hurt, and just wants everyone to get along. The last sentence also kind of gives me the impression that she tries to see the good in everyone. Overall, she's probably a really positive person.
Next one: "Why are we even doing this? We don’t need to know everything that happens out there! Why is it not enough just to stay here and be safe? And every time I try to bring it up no one ever listens to me." (he/him)
I'm going to do @DancingQueen's as well since I just noticed that @Salem's reply didn't follow the rules :/ come on you guys, the minimum is 2 good sentences. Please put some effort in.

It's kind of hard to tell exactly what is going on here, but I'm kind of getting the impression that this character is usually pretty timid, but also afraid of their own capabilities in a way. Like, maybe they have some kind of potentially dangerous power, or they've invented something that they've lost control of or something like that. It also kind of seems like this character has already been through a lot, and likely has some kind of traumatic backstory. I'm not really sure what her exact relationship with Eliot is, but it seems like they're very close, and she's probably turned to him for help in the past and vice versa.
(Thank you @Starfast!! Yeah you got it pretty accurately; Eliot is her younger brother)

Hmm….I'm getting the vibe that this guy either got dragged into heroism by his friends or didn't really know what he was getting into when he joined up. He panics quite a bit, it feels like he's on the edge of a panic attack, if not already in one, right now. A bit paranoid, looks for at least two exits to every room he's in. There's been at least one time where he's voiced concerns, been told "ugh, stop whining!", and then been proven right a handful of minutes later. Genuinely hates saying "I told you so", would really like a hot mug of tea and to be taken seriously by his peers.
"'Exploitative'?" [character] seethed through gritted teeth. "The people who inspired the treatise, my dear friends of several years, were forced into an army against their will and under threat of prison or death. They were made to fight in abhorrent conditions and meant to be abandoned at any sign of lasting illness or injury, refused treatment for anything severe. Thousands of children were forced into this, sometimes under false pretenses, and yet I am the exploitative one?" (he/him)

I feel like this guy is very logical and stern. He probably treats his loved ones like a dad would treat his kids. He also seems to be one who doesn't lose confidence in himself quickly. He's quick to defend himself when needed.
"You know, this place could use someone like you. Someone who sees the better of the world and tries to improve it even more. You're gonna change the world. I know it. But even so, the pain is still there, isn't it?" [Character] said, trying to comfort [Other Character] to the best of their ability. "But please don't lose hope. I want to see what good you'll bring to this world. And someday, perhaps… I could help too." [he/him]

I'd replace "ugh, stop whining," with "ugh, stop being so paranoid for once." But it's otherwise 100% accurate :D

This guy strikes me as one of those "wise beyond their years" type characters. He's a source of comfort for his friends and is also a bit of a mediator, always the one people go to with their troubles. He tries to see the best in everyone and is generally an optimistic type of guy, even when things get bleak. Always looking forward to the future, rarely dwells on the past. However, he doesn't feel comfortable expressing his own emotions and is so used to helping others with their problems that he's forgotten how to solve his own.
"Really, spider?" [Character] sneered, his words bloated with the same contempt masking his face. What had once been a pet name was now a taunt, filtered through his honeyed voice. "For someone who still has both their eyes, you're not very observant. You think you're the first disciple I've punished? How presumptuous." … "The world doesn't revolve around you, spider. You're not even influential enough to be the death that sends me to Hell. No, they've been waiting for their biggest star since long before you joined us." … "But you know I'm not just a star, don't you? You said it yourself: I'm not a King. I'm a demon." … "I'm their Morning Star."

oml, you got him spot on!!

This character has a very "I have to show others what I'm made of" sort of vibe. He has taken on this role that puts him on a pedestal, and he has to live up to the standards he set for themselves. Even so, he knows he isn't perfect. He knows that there are some standards that he'll never live up to, but he keeps pushing. He has a goal he wants to reach, but he knows that some goals aren't realistic. They're well-set on their path and will follow it as far as they can.
"Can we just… drop it," [Character] said, grinding their teeth. "[Other character], you know you can't always get your way. It's time to give up. I still have respect for you, but seeing you try and try like this is driving me mad. You haven't listened to a word we said. Why won't you just let us take you back? We try time and time again to get you to understand, and for you to return, but you don't listen to us. Not a word we've said has stuck in your brain, and you keep passing us off as nothing. We mean nothing to you, it seems. And therefore…" [Character] paused, regaining their composure. "You mean nothing to us." [They/them]
