(Yeah, either way that place is gone.)
Val looks to Auretta and hugs her. "Shhh… that place is gone… all of the others trapped there are free… the facility is gone…"
(Yeah, either way that place is gone.)
Val looks to Auretta and hugs her. "Shhh… that place is gone… all of the others trapped there are free… the facility is gone…"
Auretta clings to her friends, sobbing. “I-It was awful-“ she chokes out. “I-I’m just a kid- Why did that have to happen-“
"It's okay, Etta… they can never hurt you again…" Val murmurs.
Nori starts sobbing, clinging to Auretta. “I’m so sorry. I’m so so sorry. I didn’t want it either.” He sniffs again. “Why can’t I just be a normal kid?? Why?!”
Auretta continues sobbing, the weight of all of her experiences crashing down on her. Her sobbing becomes more like screaming, the pain tearing her heart apart.
Val starts crying herself, and the world starts to tear itself asunder from the force of her own grief. She realizes this and barely manages to control it. Oh my gods… all I can do is cause destruction…
Auretta is still sobbing, hugging herself. She shut her eyes tightly, not noticing Val’s distress.
Val gets herself together, both spiritully and physically, and blinks away, knowing that if she stays she'll hurt someone.
Auretta looks at Val, tears still falling from her eyes. “V…Val…” she mumbles.
Val looks back. "I- I'm sorry… all I've managed to do is destroy shit and fuck everything up. I nearly destroyed the world just then. It would have been so easy, like when I'd destroyed the mountains… you, Nori… everyone else would have died. I'm too dangerous for my own, and others, good." she sobs, continuing to walk away.
Auretta shakily stands up and rushes to Val. “Hey, no…it’s not like that!” she cries, gently grabbing her friend’s hand. “You’re not dangerous…you would never harm us…”
Val looks around sadly. "I destroyed an entire mountain range, and I forced you to remember trauma best left forgotten. I have hurt Nori too many times, and I killed myself to save you, which ended up not mattering when Nori killed himself for you, because of me."
Auretta tears up. “You didn’t mean to make me remember all that…you both also just wanted to keep me safe…” she says, tightening her grip on Val’s hand. “And you never meant to hurt Nori…”
"And also… I destroyed the facility where you were held. I'm not sure I managed to get all the other prisoners out before it was ripped from reality… too many lives have been ended because of me. I do not need yours and Nori's on my conscience as well… that would be too much." Val says, starting to break.
Nori goes quiet, feeling responsible for this. "Val.. you never…" He shakes his head, sighing
Auretta still holds onto Val’s hand. “Hey…you managed to get some people out…that’s what matters…” she speaks with reassurance and comfort. “My friends and I managed to escape that place a while ago…” she adds. “You won’t ever hurt us…not like that…”
Val turns. "Never what, Nori? Never accidentally vaporized a mountain range? Never killed too many people because you can't control your powers? Never-" her voice breaks, and she collapses, shaking, her head in her hands.
Nori watches, panic starting to rise in his chest as his heart beats violently. "Val…" He chokes out, stepping back. "Im sorry"
Auretta tears up. “Val…” she mumbles, hugging her friend tightly. “Val, we’re so sorry-“
(When one breaks, the rest break… it's kinda sad, but also kinda shows that they were meant to be friends.)
Val just sobs, incapable of stopping it. She feels… numb. Like she'll never feel true happiness again because of these stupid powers.
(Seriously though!)
Nori collapses, hugging Val with everything he has. "Val… please. You're not a bad person. You're not."
(Absolutely-)
Auretta starts crying as well. “You’re a good person and we love you-“ she mumbled, hugging Val tightly.
"D- don't say that… y- you haven't seen everything I've done… how m- much I've fucked up… I wish I never had these d- damn wings, or these powers, or this appearance… I never asked for it, never wanted it, never needed it!" Val half screams, something inside her finally snapping completely.
Auretta moves so that she’s sitting in front of Val. “Hey…Hey, look at me…” she mutters, gently grabbing her hands. “You’re not a monster…you’re amazing the way you are…”
Nori suddenly has memories of the incident, of that night. He was just fourteen, and only hours before, he saw the only friend he had die. There was nothing he could do. Nothing he could try to stop it. He simply just watched.
In his room, he angrily carried the heavy kitchen knife, sitting on the floor and violently moving his wings toward him. "Fuck those scientists, fuck these stupid things, fuck everything!!" The knife comes down, the glint of the silver sharp against the stain of blood and the searing pain. If his dad hadn't have come home sooner, Nori probably wouldn't have been able to fly.
He simply cries, going limp against Val as his voice matches hers, wretched screams of agony against the cold night. He doesn't say anything, does nothing to comfort her, because he doesn't even know how to comfort himself.
