Some (probably only a few of you) may have seen my Battle Sun RP, and this is basically set in the same world, but now you’re just spectating. It’s the OG Battle Sun chat because Battle Sun actually originated among the Scorpons(big blue humanoid scorpions) and then migrated to human culture. So basically you will watch giant scorpions battle for honor and fame while talking to some somewhat-friendly Scorpons. Anyone can join without asking, just pop your character into the seats!
Scrip stood in the front, watching his adopted father wave his wings and show off for the crowd. He wished he had wings like that, but he would have to wait until cycle 9 for wings.
(Hey where did my old Battle Sun RPers go? No one want to join? NO ONE? Don’t make me delete this!)
(Okay, here I am)
Clover leaned against her seat, far back and hidden among the shadows. She blew out the smoke from her cigarette and hung it at her side. I wonder how interesting this thing will be.
Scrip looked around at the crowd and noticed a strange sight. A human was in the stands, sitting in between the massive Scorpons and almost hidden from view. He shuffled his way over through the crowd, and sat next to her.
“Hi, I’m Scrip. What brings you here to Poison Woods, especially to the arena?”
She was indeed a strange sight–neon pink, half-shaven hair, steel gray eyes, dark and tattered clothes, and an arm with barely noticeable indents in it that weren't quite natural. (and a heavy Russian accent, but I can't exactly say that since this is a world that doesn't have Russia)
She glanced over at Scrip. "Can call me Clover. I am wanderer and mercenary. I look for entertainment. And work."
The male leaned against the wall. One hand was in a pocket, the other moving to rub at his neck a bit. A top his head, was a pair of fox-like ears, though there was almost a hint of scales beneath the fur covering those ears. One of his ears flicked forward, the other laying back against his head.
He often didn't leave home, keeping to himself and working and tinkering with things. He watched the gladiatorial match below. He said not a word, simply continuing to observe below.
The battle finally began, and two buff Scorpons launched themselves at each other. They ran on all tens, tails swinging wildly. The ends of their tails had something covering them, to stop Scorpons from poisoning their opponents. Scrip watched in fascination as the two fighters clawed the heck out of each other.
Clover's face did not change as she watched. "What is point of fight?" she asked.
Scrip didn’t peel his eyes away from the battle as he answered.
“Honor, respect, training, free food, sometimes even free flames if you win enough.”
The male continued to watch. Fights like these, in monitored conditions so to speak, never happened. Back home a fight happened between clans, mainly a group of Asian Dragons, and the Kitsune. Both ears laid flat back against his head as he thought back, thinking of what he was…for he was neither a dragon or kitsune, but a combination of both.
"I suppose different cultures and such," he mumbled softly under his breath, "Different ways to make a living…"
Two new people showed up next to the male, though they paid him no mind. It was a really tall male (6 foot 7) with a scar over a blind eye, and a female with large white fox ears with black tips and white hair. Her round orange eyes surveyed the battle while her bushy tail twitched beneath her cloak.
Clover grunted at the answer Scrip gave her. "Just like Rome," she said, her tongue rolling over the r.
Sensing two presences approach, his ears swiveled forward. His eyes shifted to the side, taking note of the pair. He observed quietly, opening his mouth slightly. It more so gave him the appearance of releasing a soft sigh, when in fact he was collecting scents, allowing an easier time to sort and tell them apart. Which came in handy in situations like this, what with so many creatures all around, all spectating the fight below.
His eyes shifted to the female. The male took note of the fox-like ears atop her own head. Almost instantly, he grew slightly suspicious. Back home, due to what he was, he was hated by both dragon and kitsune. However, he quickly buried that thought, but both his ears returned to laying flat back against his head.
Instead, perhaps of instantly assuming, it may be worthy to start small talk…
"Interesting how they work here," he suddenly spoke a bit louder, allowing them to hear, and reply should they wish.
The female swiveled her ears back, turning to face the male. Her eyes widened at the sight of his ears. "A kitsune!" Her soft voice exclaimed. The male turn also, eyeing the other male without saying anything. The girl petted her companion's arm in excitement. "Oh, it's been far too long. Yes, indeed. It is such a strange people here."
Coco sat boredly in the stands, waving her short legs back and forth, "Whyyyyy do I have to watch this," She said to no one in particular, and waved her hand at the arena, "This!" She emphasized, "Is boring! I'd personally rather be a, eating, b, on a roller coaster or c, at the beach." She released a long sigh and leaned back, almost falling.
Well, that was a bit of a different reaction, one he hadn't really been expecting it. His ears actually flicked forward, the right now clearly seen and torn part way. She saw him as a full kitsune? Guess it was better that way. He was still unsure about this girl, or her companion.
"A long time indeed," he responded simply, "I am not use to such events like this. I do not get out too often."
Scrip looked confused at the mention of Rome, but brushed it off as one of the Scorpons knocked out his opponent. Everyone in the stands cheered loudly, and the fighter whisked his tail around and flexed his arms, showing off for the crowd. He then walked out of the arena, and his beaten opponent was dragged across the ground to a hidden room.
Her companion continued to stay silent.
The kitsune sighed. "I do, unfortunately. Being a demigod is not easy."
"Kiriti," her companion warned.
Her ears flattened in shame. "Sorry."
"Is this all?" Clover asked. She was not entertained.
His yellow eyes looked over to her. A demigod? Well, this day just kept getting more interesting. The male's gaze shifted back down as the crowd in the stands cheered. Seemed a winner had taken their place. He watched for several moments, then turned his eyes back to the pair next to him.
The male looked towards the female's companion, then her. Well, he now knew her name. By the tone of the man's voice, sharing information, like being a 'demigod', was not a good thing. There was most likely reasons, like the reason he was currently playing along with being a full 'kitsune'.
"Ah, I see. I mostly just stay in my shop, work and tinker with things. Sell some of the stuff I make. It isn't much, but I enjoy doing it."
Coco jumped as everyone cheered for the battler, "Why is this fun?" She asked, again speaking to no one.
Scrip cheered even harder as a new contestant entered the arena from the stands, a huge, 8’9 Scorpon with giant blue wings that resembled a dragon’s. No other Scorpon in the whole stadium had wings.
“That’s my adopted dad, Scorpio! He is the reigning champion of Battle Sun!” The cheering and yelling in the stands eventually turned into one word: “Scorpio! Scorpio! Scorpio!” and eventually “Rune fight! Rune fight! Rune fight!”. Scorpio flapped his wings and flew around the stadium for a bit, hyping up the crowd. Eventually, his opponent appeared, a strong, cycle 8 Scorpon, who stood at 8’3 and had unusually big spikes on his shell. The newcomer growled. Judging by the fact that his shell was unmarred by scars, he only recently molted. Scorpons that sat near the Scorpon leader’s special seat lit up with magic, blue flames swirling around their claws, tails and eyes. Glowing, differently colored symbols appeared in midair around the contestants.
Kiriti perked up. "Oh, Ju–my friend is a part time jeweler. She does something similar to that."
"Kiriti" her companion warned again.
She sighed, wringing her fingers. "I know, but I am no good at these kind of missions."
"You wanted to go." He pointed out.
"I know, but…" she gestured to the male in front of her with a sheepish smile. "I made a friend. And you're really good at this, being an assassin and all."
Her companion rolled his eyes. "Fine. Then to stay here." He ears perked up and she smiled. Her companion sighed and walked off, disappearing into the crowd.
Kiriti turned to the male, tilting her ears curiously. "Is there a reason I smell dragon on you?"
