Arwood nodded, “Yes, being semimortal has its pleasures, but most of the time one wishes they were not.”
semimortal? He frowned as he looked Jarrod from head to toe. “Is your whole group semidivine?” He inquired, “did you possess magic by birthright or was it given to you?”

"No, the only divine one is Felix. He was lucky enough to become a god, so he doesn't age. My family has a history of being good with magic. Other than that, the rest of us are normal. Mostly." Jarrod added.

Mashka, now on both feet, eyed the two girls curiously. They were bringing their hands together, fast, making sharp noises. Was this what you did when someone did something well?
Experimentally, she tried it, but her hands stung and she stopped. At the piano player's comment, she swept into a bow, her knee-length hair sweeping the floor as she did so. A few twigs caught the brown curls, but she pulled them free gently.

"Funny, I don't remember those twigs being there." Felix muttered.

A burst of red and grey smoke, and then a creepy looking man appeared.

"Jesus Christ. New person. Okay. Creepy looking bugger." Felix rambled, but then he composed himself. "Pardon my manners sir, you took me by surprise. Dr. Vozreal you said? A pleasure, I'm sure."

Felix grabbed the mans hand a shook it.

"Hello Austin." she said, dipping her head in respect. "My name is Willow, from the Northern forests." She stared at him a bit, analyzing everything, trying to determine who he was, where he was from, what he was doing what did he want? Was he a threat? But then she remembered that staring made people uncomfortable, so she dropped her gaze and tried to say something normal. "Do you make music too?" she asked.

Austin was used to getting stared at by now, with his yellow eyes and all. But this stare wasn't… judgmental. It seemed purely analytical. "Ah.. no I don't. I do like it though. I'm a… quieter person. So um, what are the Northern Forest like, I guess.." God damn did he suck at conversation.

Willow shrugged, "Cold? Lots of trees, not very many people, all the animals are twice as likely to bite you." she scuffed her boot on the tile, trying to think of something this person might find interesting, "There's a bunch of lakes, but the fish are hard to catch. If you do catch one it'll probably bite you." she looked back up at him, "Where do you come from?"

@Williamnot group

"Consequences, Washington. It's kinda like what you said, but instead of it being cold it just rains a lot. And the animals that bite are probably horrific monsters that will haunt your dreams for the rest of your life, but you know other than that." Austin sucked on the jawbreaker for a minute, thinking. "So what do you like to do?"

I am the emperor of dynamic conversation. He thought.

She kind of shrugged, a little put of at the mention of dreams, and started looking through cabinets just so she wouldn't be standing still. "I guess I like being alive," she said, "So I spend most of my time making sure that happens," Willow smiled at him "Its a full time job you know."

Arwood was running his hand over the smooth walls searching for anything out of place, he was nodding slowly as Jarrod spoke, at least they didn't seem in league…
He spun sharply to stare at the man “Felix is a god?” he asked his eyebrow-raising in disbelief. “I have never heard of someone becoming a god, in fact, I have never before heard of a god taking form as a human. How did it happen?”

"You've never heard of.. hold on. You weren't surprised about people being teleported to this mansion place, but you don't know about gods. Which side are you from? First Side or Other Side?" Jarrod went from a formal, upright stance to a fighting stance. He put his hand behind his back, over his gun. Hemlock must be part of a border-crossing cult. That cult might be the reason they were all here.

Vozreal shook Felix's hand.
"What's your name?" He asked.

" Call me Felix, doctor. Nice eyes by the way, very striking. How'd you get them?" Felix turned and started walking back to the piano, thinking of what he'd play next.

Austin chuckled. "Really? I thought it was a part time job. I better start putting in more hours." Austin looked around the kitchen, trying to think of something else to talk about.

Em and Mel had wandered away from the ballroom.

"Hey Mel?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think this place has secret passages?"

Mel thought for a minute. "Maybe."

Em smiled. "You wanna look for them?"

Mel smiled back. "Sure."

Mashka watched it all, completely unsure of what to do. She had realised that she was, indeed, taller than everyone here, except for the one man with the crimson eyes.
A thin ribbon of mist curled around her ankles, and the tips of her hair drew up slightly, as though pulled by invisible strings.

Arwood caught Jarrod’s quick movements, and instantly pressed his weight to the balls of his feet, muscles getting prepared to move in any direction. Fighting the urge to go for his sword he raised his hand’s palms outward as a gesture of peace, while he might be used to people instantly jumping to an attack, he didn’t know what the man held behind his back.
“I do not know what First Side or Other Side is, but I am not here to hurt you or any of your friends.” His voice was low and calm hoping Jarrod was diplomatic. “I am just like you, taken from my home and trust in a place I do not know.” He turned his gaze to what lay behind Jarrod's back contemplating what it might be, “as I have said before, I am from Thirignam and have never heard of you before.”

"Just, Call me Dr. Vozreal. And I was… created… with them." He took Felix

Willow turned the knob on the stove top and jumped back when it flickered on. "Is it supposed to do that?"

Hemlock was clearly an experienced fighter from his reaction, but he hadn't gone for his sword. Wait. A sword?

"..What year is it Hemlock?" Jarrod asked, watching the mans hands.

"Just, Call me Dr. Vozreal. And I was… created… with them." He took Felix

"Created? That's odd, because I was born, I don't know about you, but that seems to be the normal way of coming into existence. How were you created?" Felix asked, saying the last bit in a deep, gravely voice. He sat down on the piano bench and cracked his knuckles.

Willow turned the knob on the stove top and jumped back when it flickered on. "Is it supposed to do that?"

"Yeah, yeah it is." Austin assumed she was from somewhere rural on the Other Side and hadn't seen a stove before. "It's a stove. You use it too cook food in pots and pans."

He started looking around for the ingredients for hot chocolate. "I can show you, I feel like some hot chocolate anyways.

"You see… I'm a demon. Don't panic, I have changed my ways."

"Oh, yeah, I know about stoves. Just never used them." she fidgeted with the bandages wrapped around her hand. "What's hot chocolate?" she asked forming the words slowly with her accent.

Arwood frowned at the question, eyeing Jarrod closely and wondering where this was heading. If this was one of Isletas tricks, was the question a hint? He tried to think back on what had transpired on October 10 in the past, nothing came to mind.
If Isleta wasn’t involved, was this Jarrods way of testing him to see if he was an enemy? Was there any correct answer?
“October 10, 1315. Why?”

Mashka got up, the ends of her hair still curling upwards faintly, and came over to the tall one and the piano player, having heard snatches of their conversation. "What's a… demon?"

Deleted user

"A demon… it's a 'malevolent' being who is like a ghost, but not, if that makes sense. They come from hell."
